'It's not about Anwar, it's about injustice'

YOURSAY 'This is not just about Anwar, but is about the way the government is treating the ordinary people - with disdain and arrogance.'

Pakatan show of force on Sodomy II verdict day

Cinaputra: We are told it is going to be a non-violent demonstration against this unjust and corrupt regime.

This is not just about DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim) but is about the way the government is treating the ordinary people - with disdain and arrogance.

If the demonstration should come about, it is hoped the police will exercise restraint and not act under the direction of the government, which will certainly order the police to come down hard on the protesters. The ordinary cop must realise he is part of the rakyat and not a member of a goon squad.

Violence generally is not the way of Malaysians and it will be a sad day if anarchy should rule the day. I am praying for good sense to prevail because, as it is, this country is saddled with enough problems already.

Truth be told, I am not for a street protest, but the BN government must think hard and listen to the cries of the people at least for once.

Right now the powers-that-be are focused on retaining power at all cost. The price? A very unhappy country. God bless Malaysia.

Docs: So Pakatan Rakyat is mobilising 100,000 supporters to show support for Anwar's expected guilty verdict at the hands of the Umno-run judiciary. My questions:

1. Does the FRU have enough members to violently quash this expected protest.

2. Will a buffet be provided for the arrested protestors similar to what happened in Bersih 2.0?

3. Will the FRU be shooting tear gas into the Palace of (mis)Justice?

Ashoka PJ: PAS/DAP/PKR, just tell all those whom you have called to be at the court on Jan 9 to give just one thing if ever they are caught by PDRM.

Just say: "I came to attend the verdict in court alone, and I don't know the fellow next to me so you cannot charge me with illegal assembly. I came alone." Full stop.

Tell everyone to memorise these words.

Dingy: If it's a jail verdict, the judge will get fast-track promotion just like the late judge Augustine Paul in Sodomy I.

Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, the man who put Anwar in jail, would be a multi-millionaire and possibly receive a datukship from the Agong.

Umno will hail Saiful as a national hero. However, the rewards will only happen if and only if, BN retains Putrajaya in GE13.

Solaris: If I'm not mistaken, the judge already had said that he "believes Saiful"? Then what are we waiting for? Join the ‘Anwar Uprising'.

Anticommunalist: It will be very interesting to see how many people are going to actually turn up in court on Jan 9.

PAS promised between 100,000 and 200,000 party members would attend the Bersih rally but in reality that number was a total exaggeration.

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali is highly unpopular within Pakatan circles so he can only dream on if he thinks Pakatan leaders are going to heed his call.

There's a lot of political backstabbing within the Pakatan hierarchy so it's difficult to know if Anwar actually can get PAS and DAP to mobilise their supporters to come to his call.

It's not that Pakatan has the money to get people to attend like how Umno ‘buys' their supporters to attend either. So all eyes will be closely watching come Jan 9. Is Anwar as popular as claimed?

Ferdtan: The show of force is not about Anwar - it is to show the rakyat are disgusted with the judiciary.

They are seen as a tool of the government. Put fear into the hearts of corrupt officers of the court - we cannot tolerate any more of their connivance with the evil force.

Cala: Again, PM Najib Razak will be judged against his own words whether he is sincere in allowing peaceful assembly.

From past experience, Malaysian crowd have been exemplary in conducting themselves even under the most distressful conditions.

Hence Najib will lose big if he sends his police to disperse the unarmed crowd on the pretext of maintaining law and order.

If Najib is worth his salt, he should allow the event to take its course. Is it not natural for the followers of Anwar to be concerned about the verdict of the charge, and be there to show their support?

If Najib is correct all along, why fear people assembling? To a good leader, is it not true that people are his assets? So why go against the people's wishes to assemble?

Keanjin: Count me in!
