Umno leader: Resolve scandal or lose people's trust
Kit P:
Umno division leader Syed Ali Alhabshee is really not speaking up against corruption and abuse of power. He's only calling for Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to quit her ministerial post because Umno-BN is losing support over the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) issue.
In other words, just don't get exposed and everything will be a-okay.
Anak_Melaka: It is a very simple and straightforward case. But PM Najib Abdul Razak, being quite indecisive in his leadership, seems unable to decide.
Umno-BN is the big loser, Pakatan Rakyat is banking in more and more votes until the next GE. Probably by that time, it would be already too late for Najib and BN.
Shahrizat should have been sacked right from the beginning to arrest the fiasco. We, as fence sitters and party-less voters, will decide who the real winner will be in the coming elections.
Is Najib waiting for the ill-managed MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) to give him the signal on when to sack Shahrizat?
The longer this game goes on, the more votes will go to Pakatan.
Annoyed Malaysian: Kak Izat (Shahrizat) and family should invite the opposition and show them all the books at their disposal to obliterate any notion of wrongdoing and put the matter to rest.
Otherwise the public will consume all that is said by the opposition hook, line and sinker, and the public cannot be damned for this.
Multi Racial: It seems Syed Ali Alhabshee's concern is about winning the general election and not so much about corruption.
The government and the relevant authorities must take action against all corrupt politicians regardless of their positions, race, religion and which organisations or parties they are with. Those found guilty must be severely punished.
Syed Ali only makes noise about the NFC. What about the RM500 commission for Perimekar in the purchase of Scorpene submarines? What about PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone), other military purchases, the Selangor sand mining issue, and many more?
So please do not selectively call for action. Everyone involved in corruption should be punished.
Gerakan deputy chief wants Shahrizat out
Vijay47: Gerakan deputy chief Chang Ko Youn's suggestion, or rather, plea to Shahrizat to resign, seems to be spiced with a lot of noble words like "sympathy, magnanimity and sacrifice", balanced with "cruel and unfair assault on her family".
A foreigner reading his statement would believe that Chang was referring to Mother Teresa. For heaven's sake, sacrifice and magnanimity do not feature in the picture at all should Shahrizat resign - if she had any shame or honour, she would do it and in fact should have done it by now.
Any way you slice it, she and her family were happily milking imaginary cows and laughing all the way to the bank.
Chang's statement makes me wonder why non-Malay parties in BN are so beholden to Umno. There seems to be no leader in Gerakan, MCA, or MIC honourable enough to call a spade a spade.
Onyourtoes: Chang Ko Youn, do you know what is your problem? Trying to be honest when you are not; trying to do the right thing when your intention is otherwise.
If you have so much sympathy for Shahrizat who is facing an "unfair and cruel" attack, why then must she vacate her ministerial post?
Ask her to stay on and ask her to put into boxes those who have wrongly accused her. On what basis is your sympathy based on? In what specific way was the "attack" unfair and cruel?
Who has shown arrogance and intransigence here - the public or Shahrizat's family and BN politicians in general? By the way, you are too lightweight and your party too insignificant to make a comment on this.
Anonymous: Shahrizat keeps saying she has nothing to do with what her family does with the money from the government's coffers.
She is effectively saying even if her family committed breach of trust or a crime, it has nothing to do with her.
Let's remind her that in the good old days, the family is held jointly liable. If one is found guilty, all will be made slaves and sold to the highest bidder.
FellowMalaysian: It is only appropriate that Shahrizat vacates her ministerial post whilst being under investigation to provide a free access to the investigating bodies.
This is only a sensible thing to do considering the gravity of the NFC debacle. Shahrizat and family is caught in a whirlwind flux where she finds herself having to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea.
Either way she decided, she will still need to face the mounting pressure from the public, and time will tell whether she will finally relent and tell the truth.
When has any Umno-BN minister or MP resigned over any scandal? In fact, the records show that they will fight tooth and nail - and shamelessly too - to stay in power. The rewards to stay are just too great to give up.
