Is Hindraf as racist as Perkasa?

YOURSAY 'Indians are a cursed race and their problems are manifold. By seeking justice for them, it is possible to seek justice for all Malaysians.'

Where PSM differs with Hindraf

your say Voteforchange: Hindraf cannot be compared to PSM. Sungai Siput MP Dr Michael Jeyakumar might take delight in abstract principles, but it was Hindraf that revitalised the Indian Malaysians.

PSM, by denying ethnicity, cannot expect racism to fly away.

Alexi: Why are people saying that Hindraf is as racist as Perkasa and MIC, why not also as racist as MCA or Umno, or is it that racism is a privilege that is reserved for Indians?

Anyone can pay lip service to being truly Malaysian, but you can also be truly Malaysian while using the injustices suffered by your community as a springboard to bringing change.

Jeyakumar says he fights for the rights of workers, irrespective of race, creed of religion. Oh, so beautiful, maybe the government will listen to you and the workers will get better rights, but then, the workers in say, the Johor civil service, is made up of zero percent Indians.

A Hindu guy converts to Islam, takes their children away from the non-converting wife, would you take up the case? No, for to do so will be racist, so let Hindraf do the dirty job.

Hindraf is pure and devoid of hypocrisy. Indians are a cursed race and their problems are manifold. By seeking justice for them, it is possible to seek justice for all Malaysians.

Hindraf fights for Indian deaths in custody cases because people like Jeyakumar won't dirty their hands with it for they stand for all Malaysians, but if Indians fight against custodial deaths, it results in better police custodial standard operating procedures, everybody benefits.

Hindraf embarrasses the government for its institutionalised racism, by taking up various cases on behalf of Indians and if this results in the sharp edge of BN racism being blunted, everybody benefits.

Jean Pierre: Hindraf probably did spark the awakening of Malaysians of Indian descent in Malaysia. Hindraf probably did inspire all Malaysians to stand up and make their voice heard against tyranny and injustice.

But the good doctor's principles and intentions are so noble and genuine that you can't help embracing his cause.

Opah: Can we imagine what it would be like if Jeyakumar becomes our labour minister?

Wouldn't it be great to have someone who understands the plight of our workers, strives to improve their conditions and has the analytical capability to come up with effective solutions in this position?

Myop101: PSM should continue to remain independent but be Pakatan Rakyat-friendly. In time, we would need PSM to be the third major player in politics.

We need a counterbalance to BN and Pakatan, so please stay true to your cause and work your way up organically.

Jiminy Qrikert: And the good doctor, Jeyakumar, also said, "...the marginalised among the Indian community need to form a coalition with the marginalised of other racial groups, including the Malays, to challenge a socio-economic system that is skewed towards the super-rich."

In short, needs-based not race-based. The government of the time must help all marginalised Malaysians regardless of race, not like Umno-BN or MIC or Hindraf.

HRP 'very confident' of winning Kota Raja seat

20121221Disaster: The Human Rights Party (HRP) is out to prevent Pakatan from reaching Putrajaya. If the majority of the Indians still believe that racial strength is more important than national unity, then they deserve to stay poor.

Up2U: Stop dreaming, HRP. At best you can split the Indian votes and help BN win. Why not work with Pakatan and field some candidates against MIC-BN candidates? HRP will stand a better chance.

Kgen: Getting 90 percent of the Indian vote is just a pipe dream. Even Umno would not dare to claim 90 percent of the Malay vote.

The Indians are the most politically split race. Support between Pakatan and BN is now at about 50-50. HRP as an independent candidate may get just 10 percent of the Indian votes if they are lucky.

It is just impossible for HRP to get 90 percent. HRP leader P Uthayakumar is not a person grounded in reality. This is a man who suffers from delusions.

Foo: Uthaya, even if you can garner 100 percent of the Indian votes (which nobody sensible will believe), how are going to convince the remaining 71.7 percent of the voters to vote for you as you seem only interested to fight for the Indians only?

You need to broaden your base if you really serious about winning, less you are there only to be the spoiler.

Progressive: Uthaya, you have done great things for the Indians in the country, thanks - but you have since shortchanged them.

You have lost credibility, your strategy is full of holes. You have lost the plot. You couldn't even get your party registered.

Get back to the drawing board and recast yourselves personally and your party's strategy for the future and forget about GE13. You will be pulverised if your persist in contesting.

Anonymous: I am an Indian but I will vote for PAS.
