A woman and a girl become the latest victims of an acid attack while waiting for a bus at the 16th mile, Rawang yesterday evening.  

Gombak police chief Asst Comm Abdul Rahim Abdullah said a suspected snatch thief on foot splashed acid on S Rani, 46, and Nuraqilah Osman, 16 as they were waiting at the bus stop.

The suspect had snatched Rani’s gold chain first and then splashed the acid on her before running off with his accomplice, he added.     

The acid splashed on the girl’s back as she happened to be near the victim, he said in a text message last night.  

Abdul Rahim added that Nuraqilah received outpatient treatment at the Selayang Hospital while Rani was still hospitalised for burns to her face, neck, chest and hands.
