Reporter Radzi Razak of theSun has had his jaw wired shut after a medical examination at Assunta Hospital in Petaling Jaya showed that he was suffering from a facial fracture.

"Hospital Kuala Lumpur didn't check my face. Assunta detected it when I complained that the pain in my cheeks had not subsided," he said in a tweet to Malaysiakini .

NONE Radzi, who said he was assaulted by about seven uniformed police personnel during the Bersih 3.0 rally, said his jaw was now wired shut to let the fracture heal.

"I will be like this for at least a week.

"The dietician said I should eat blended food and soups only," he said.

No internal injury

Radzi said he moved to Assunta Hospital on Monday, when the the Sun decided to get a second opinion on his injuries.

He had been warded at Hospital Kuala Lumpur since Saturday night, and was first suspected to have suffered broken ribs and internal injuries.

"I've been cleared of internal injuries," he said.

Hospital Kuala Lumpur doctors, who first suspected the rib injury, later confirmed that it was an old injury and not related to Saturday's incident.

Radzi was discharged from Assunta Hospital at 7pm.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has vowed to investigate Radzi's claim.
