'EC's job is to help BN steal the elections'

FREE YOURSAY 'Everyone already knows that the EC has not been honest; this is the reason more than 100,000 people attended Bersih 3.0.'

EC has not been honest in its rebuttals

your say Moontime: Malaysian Electoral Roll Analysis Project (Merap) project director Ong Kian Ming has clearly pointed out many problems associated with the electoral roll and the gerrymandering that has favoured the ruling elite.

Isn't this proof enough that the Election Commission's (EC) main objective is to ensure BN will win the elections in perpetuity?

Like it or not, this is the reality. And if the opposition parties keep on thinking that they can beat this flawed system that is giving BN an unfair advantage over its opponents, they can keep on dreaming of ever reaching Putrajaya.

So what's the next plan? Do we keep on protesting and shouting to the authorities to right this wrong? Or are there concrete plans to overhaul the whole system?

Bersih and other election watchdogs, such as Merap and Mafrel (Malaysians for Free and Fair Elections), must work together to keep up the pressure against the EC to admit that there is clearly something wrong with the way our elections are being conducted.

I shudder at the thought of BN repeating its huge win in 2004 thanks to EC's 'hard work' and crafty shenanigans.

Anonymous 6137549876: The EC chairperson does not show himself as a person who is impartial, and above all, a responsible and mandated officer holding the highest position in the EC.

Unlike other high-ranking public and private positions befitting the title chairperson, who have no choice but to be responsive almost daily with emergency, short and long-term measures, which are all tied to their KPIs (key performance indicators) for their survival, the EC chairperson simply sits on his laurels and sleeps for five years until the next general election is about to be summoned.

The Egis (Electoral Geographic Information System) was implemented in 2004 but the EC chairperson only opened his eyes from his deep slumber long after the 2008 general election. How nice it is to hold such a post that is paid by the hard-earned income of the rakyat.

Saengch: The EC can simply publish a list of the voters that EC has moved across parliamentary border for this post-Egis "correction exercise".

This table will have three columns: ‘From which parliament', ‘To which parliament' and ‘Number of voters affected'. The table will be long, with 222 x 222 rows.

But the details are straight forward and easy to understand, and will allow anyone concerned with their own parliamentary seat to check the numbers, in details and in sum.

This list should exclude those who actually applied to move because they have changed residence; it should only include EC-moved voters.

Tokio: Everyone already knows that the EC has not been honest; this is the reason more than 100,000 people attended Bersih 3.0.

Anonymous #47497449: I hope there is a section in our Elections Act that allows the chairperson and deputy to be held accountable for all that they do.

Change the government in Putrajaya and bring both of them before a lawfully constituted tribunal and see what answers they will give.

Either they will sing like a bird or suddenly have memory lapses, learning from you-know-who. Please keep a record of all their statements.

I think they need to be held accountable for all their acts done against the country and the people. A spell in jail will be very good for reflection.

Billy The Kid: It is evident that not only is the EC not honest, they - with orders from their political masters - have been devising such fraudulent schemes to cheat and ensure BN wins in specific areas involved.

What other evidence do we need? Just get a foreign independent firm to investigate and present the full picture of the deceit, that's what we need.

Kgen: Let's be clear about this. The EC is just a branch of Umno and their main purpose is to help BN steal the elections. We will not have a real democracy until we have an independent EC.

Anonyxyz: I wonder whether DAP vice-chairperson Tunku Aziz Tunku Ibrahim with his intelligence and his firm principles of not breaking the law, agrees with the EC's illegal acts.

Are they not breaking the laws as well? He criticised Bersih but not this, isn't that selective?

Marge: Can someone explain what "rekod tidak actif di JPN" means? How do you keep our record active - by losing your IC occasionally and hence having to apply for a new one?

If I am 80 years old (close to dying age) am I expected to report to the NRD every year (or so) in order to keep my "rekod aktif"? Someone please enlighten.

Alimuddin: What do you expect from all these goons who have been cheating all these 54 years?

Will a tiger eat grass? A buffalo will always be a buffalo. It won't get any smarter as it ages. You can expect otherwise.
