Anti-Bersih group Bersih 4.0 Peace-lovers has promised more prizes for those who "like" their Facebook page as a KL-based Chinese trader joined in today to offer five Modenas motorcycles.

NONE Announcing this at a press conference today, organiser Jamal Ab Yunus ( left ) said he believed more traders will step up in the coming weeks to offer items of their own.

He said the traders's actions are aimed at showing solidarity with the group to condemn the mammoth Bersih movement that had affected their businesses.

Aside from the five Modenas, Jamal, a luxury car dealer-cum- restaurateur-cum-small trader , had earlier offered a Lamborghini and a BMW 530, worth a total of a RM1.5 million.

“Maybe someone will even offer an airplane or helicopter later,” he said jokingly after the press conference.

NONE The page has now generated 500 fans after a series of attention-grabbing events by the group including a bid to hold a street market at the residence of Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreevanesan and a press conference to launch the page.

When asked whether a fanbase of 500 is satisfactory, Jamal said: “I don’t know whether it is good or bad, but we want Bersih not to repeat its rally.”

‘Street market cancelled to respect the laws’

Meanwhile, commenting on the sudden cancellation of the street market which was supposed to take place yesterday, Jamal said he did out of respect for laws.

He said they group were met by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officials, who erected roadblocks on the roads leading to Ambiga’s house at Bukit Damansara.

“We had 2,000 people yesterday, we can proceed if we want to. But we are peace-loving people, we don’t break laws,” he said.

When asked whether his action to set up a burger stall and the futile street market bid are part of Malaysian culture, since he always denounced street protest as not being one, he insisted that the group is still wiser than Bersih.

“If we compare between Bersih and us, they did not get the permit but still insisted on holding a street rally.

“We were adamant in the first place. But we wanted to prove that we know our limit, we respect the laws,” he said.

On another note, he said the anti-Bersih group, ironically dubbed as ‘Bersih 4.0 Peace Lovers’, will on Monday apply for a permit for their upcoming planned rally from the Bukit Jalil Complex authority.
