MACC urged to act on sale of defence secrets

Odin: Basic logic tells one that the secret information must surely has been obtained by the then defence minister and sold to the French company through his close confidant, Abdul Razak Baginda, or his father.

Only the said minister could have access to and obtain the information; Abdul Razak could not.

The lion's shares of the RM142 million from the sale of the information and of the RM450 million commissions from the purchase of the submarines must surely have gone to the said minister.

That is why the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) has kept mum.

Only yesterday they committed to probing a 17-year-old allegation on PKR deputy chief Azmin Ali. They investigated a petty RM2,000 transaction that eventually led to the death of Teoh Beng Hock.

This defence case is a billion-dollar scandal that will turn Putrajaya upside down, so even if MACC has the evidence to charge those responsible, they do not have the guts to bring it up.

Even if they do bring it up, the AG (attorney-general) will block it or mark the file ‘no further action'. We are indeed feeding a bunch of parasites that are so deeply intoxicated by Umno's venom.

Onyourtoes: If this piece of news is true, then what is the point of buying that two submarines? I think by now all our potential enemies and allies would have known everything even before our U-boats leave Sepangar naval base.

Emergency motion to debate defence secrets sale

Azlan Ahmad: This case will soon go into oblivion. Suaram can try all it can, but at the end of the day, it's better not to waste time.

This is a government-to-government affair. Defence companies have been known to pay bribes to government officials to buy their equipment. To them, it is a commercial deal - pure and simple. The US makes such deals, so does the UK and all other arms-supplying countries. So my advice to Suaram - just go and fly kite.

Raise this treasonous act in Parliament and everywhere. The people must be made aware.
