Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today said the decision on a proposal to develop the PKNS football field in Kelana Jaya by the Selangor State Development Authority (PKNS) will be made by Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Roslan Sakiman.

"The decision must be made by the Petaling Jaya mayor since the application was sent to him," Abdul Khalid told reporters after a meeting with representatives of local councils in Shah Alam today.

He said Mohamad Roslan would then inform PKNS of the decision and if its proposal for the development was rejected, PKNS can appeal.

"The council of MBPJ (Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya) will then make a decision if there is an appeal from PKNS," he said.

Mohamad Roslan was earlier reported to have said MBPJ would not approve any application for commercial development of the field situated at SS7, Kelana Jaya.

The redevelopment application for the 30-year-old PKNS field and sports complex in Kelana Jaya had received strong objection from residents in and around the Klang valley.

Residents want the field, which had once hosted cricket matches during the 1998 Commonwealth Games and other international games, to remain.
