Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo, has given the Attorney-General's Chambers 48 hours to tell what action it will take on the assault of national boxer and Sea Games gold medallist Muhamad Farkhan Mohd Haron in Johor Bahru.

NONE Farkhan is said to have been assaulted by a 'Tengku' and his friends. This Tengku is said to be not related to the Johor royalty.

Gobind said Farkhan lodged a report over the May 6 attack and that no action has been taken against those responsible.

"There is no doubt that the matter is a most serious crime in nature, covering various offences in law as the assailants used weapons.

"The offences can be under Section 326 for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 307 (attempted murder), Section 362 (kidnapping) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Penal Code," Gobind said.

"I call upon the Attorney-General to explain, within 48 hours, why no action has been taken against anyone up until now, despite the serious nature of the allegations made in the police report.

"Failing which, I will submit a motion against the AG and home minister in Parliament next week for them to explain," he added.

Boxer will have to miss London Olympics

Gobind said Farkhan, 24, who took the gold medal for boxing in the 2009 Laos Sea Games during the Laos Sea Games in 2009, had to give up his aspiration to compete in the London Olympics next month because of the injuries sustained.

NONE To make matters worse for the boxer, his father, Mohd Haron Ismail, who was disturbed by the attack, suffered a heart attack and died a few days ago.

The MP said Farkhan is entitled to justice and as the complainant and the victim, he should know what is going on.

Bernama reported on May 9 that police arrested a man and a woman to assist in investigations into the attack.

The report quoted Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff as saying that police were looking for seven more people to assist in the investigations.

Mokhtar also gave his assurance that police would not conceal anything following allegations that one of the attackers was a VIP, a Tengku.

Relating the May 6 incident, Farkhan said the Tengku had phoned him while he was watching the English FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool and urged him to come to his house.

On reaching there, Farkhan said, he was assaulted with wood, iron rods and a `samurai' sword by six men and a woman for three to four hours.

"They warned me that if I reported the matter, my family and I will be harmed. However, I have lodged a police report. My parents have also lodged a police report. My family is still in a trauma," he said.
