The tussle within Selangor PKR is still far from over, with state party information chief Shuhaimi Shafie reiterating his call to Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to take action on his political secretary Faekah Husin for issuing a support letter.

NONE The Sri Muda assemblyperson told New Straits Times that action was necessary as swift action had previously been taken in cases where family members of state officials were involved in state-linked transactions.

Faekah has admitted she sent out a few letters for law firms seeking appointment to act s legal firms for Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd, including a law firm run by her niece.

But she denied that these were support letters and Khalid has also defended her, saying the letter was a normal matter and not against ethics.

However, NST reported that Shuhaimi cited previous cases involving two Klang municipal councillors who were sacked for issuing support letters, namely Tee Boon Hock and Hamidah Mat Som, in 2010.

'Khalid acted swiftly on other cases'

Shuhaimi said Khalid had been swift in acting on other cases where family members of state officials were involved in state government projects, but not when it involved someone from his office who had chafed many people, including some in PKR.

"I still hope that the MB can do something because this incident has raised many questions among our Pakatan friends. This is to prevent accusations that he is not consistent in his actions.

"The issue here is not because of the issuance of the support letter, which nowadays carries little weight.

"If her (Faekah's) niece really wants to be part of a state GLC's legal panel, she should go straight to the MB, who is the chairman of all state companies.

"The MB will then give further instructions to his political secretary. If it had happened this way, there won't be an issue," NST quotes Shuhaimi as saying.

He reiterated that Faekah should be asked to go on leave pending the completion of an investigation into the allegation.
