YOURSAY 'Even the supply of a basic necessity such as water can become politicised - all due to concessions awarded to BN cronies.'

Selangor gov't wants to take over Syabas operations

your say Aquinas Says: I am one who would back a takeover of Syabas by the state government. I have had dealings with them as a developer and I am aware of the corrupt practices and bully tactics that they use as a water monopoly in the industry.

M-PJ: If this is true, that Syabas fabricated the water shortage issue just to gain political mileage - and in the process make defenceless citizens suffer by inconveniencing them - then I am speechless that such lowlifes exist among our society.

Kennchan : Yes MB Khalid Ibrahim, please take over the water supply operations from them. Don't let them blackmail the state.

We must understand that the Syabas boss is an Umno man. These Umno men will try all sorts of things to destabilise the state and help Umno to recapture the state.

Sarajun Hoda: That's what you call a responsible government that works for the people. Selangorians will be sure that Syabas would be better managed by the state.

The water belongs to the people, so let the people decide how they want to run it. BN has been arm twisting state government way too much and has taken Selangorians to ransom.

Anonymous #06659895: The federal government has always bullied the state governments governed by the opposition since Malaysia was established.

Selangor, go for it. We support you. The federal government always manufactures lies.

Hang Tuah PJ: Syabas to you, Khalid. We Selangorians back you all the way. Refuse to kowtow to the federal government and stand your ground.

Clearwater: Will the federal government agree? I don't think so.

Now even the supply of a basic necessity such as water can become a politicised issue, all due to business concessions awarded to cronies under the past BN administrations.

This is privatisation gone rogue.

Odin: The water shortage claim is not 'may' but 'highly likely to' have been manufactured in retaliation vis-a-vis the Langat water project, and to induce the constituents to switch their allegiance to the ruling coalition.

Take the water business back; water is a state, not federal, matter.

Moontime: With all the spin in the government-owned mass media, you would have thought that there wouldn't be any drop of water in Selangor tomorrow.

Syabas is really desperate to hold on to its contract so much so that it has resorted to spinning lies and confusing the public about the water supply drying up.

Common sense tells us if we want to know the truth, just go and visit the dam. I'm sure the Selangor MB did just that.

Kudos to YB Khalid for having the guts to shatter the myth perpetrated by this rogue company. Selangor should take back what's essentially theirs in the first place.

Why do I detect the familiar stench of vindictive and malicious ulterior motives by Syabas? Umno-BN must be nearby because it stinks to high heaven.

Anonymous #59879079: It should not be too hard to provide pictorial evidence on the level of the dams. After all, they are too big to hide. Come on Khalid, back your words with pictures and show some credibility.

Az: It has been raining continuously for the past two years or so and now when we have a dry period, we have this threat by Syabas.

If the shortage is real then it proves how incompetent Syabas is and the state government should definitely take over its operation.

Anonymous #19098644: Start by rationing water in Putrajaya. Tomorrow there will not be any so-called manufactured water crisis.

Tholu: If MB Khalid's assertion is true, BN ought to be ashamed. Using the Selangor water consumers as pawns in their political battle with the Pakatan in Selangor is despicable, to say the least.

BN can never stoop any lower than this to attain its agenda. Now we know that all the stories they have spun against Pakatan are calculated blatant lies.

Malaysiawatch4.blogspot: Yes, it is better that the state governments take back control of all water assets. Even in Johor, consumers were played out by the state government when they privatised the water concessions.

Ferdtan: If there are no water due to the falsehood of Syabas, we shall hold a demonstration in front of Syabas executive chairman Rozali Ismail's and CEO Ruslan Hassan's houses.

After all, our top police officers say it is legal to gather at private houses, like what Umno thugs did outside Bersih 2.0 co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenavasan's house.

Taikohtai: The next thing BN will start privatising - the very air we breathe.

Avoid these water audit firms, MP tells S'gor gov't

Mohan Gandhi: Klang MP Charles Santiago is spot on. MB Khalid better take note and please ensure persons/organisations tainted by their relationship with Syabas/federal government are excluded.

The rain has been pouring and let's us have a sincere study of the water reserves, free of Syabas sources.

AkuBangsaMalaysia: How come Span (National Water Services Commission) is not seen to be playing an active role here in Selangor to protect the water consumers from being deprived from ample water supply due to the possible rationing act by the water company?

Michael Ng 34f2: Syabas is trying to hold the Selangor state government to ransom by threatening water rationing.

If Syabas truly have to ration water, it's because they are in debts and not being able to run water production plants well, as the state government has already pointed out that the water levels at all the dams are okay.
