Throwing money at Penang bumis, or buying votes?

YOURSAY 'Najib and BN-Umno are like debt-ridden Santa Clauses gambling away the rakyat's money to win GE13.'

Putrajaya rains cash on Penang bumis ahead of polls

your say Daniel: Going by this, it is better for the Penang Malays to vote in the Pakatan Rakyat government again. Why?

Because when the BN was in power, the people didn't get very much. After Pakatan won Penang in 2008, the BN had to keep throwing money at them to try to buy their support.

So, if BN wins back Penang, this windfall will stop.

Iremember: It is good to know that PM Najib Razak is allocating RM120 million to the Penang Bumiputeras Participation programme, which is contrary to his 1Malaysia slogan.

It would be better if Najib could extend 30 percent of the funds to help the other races so that Gerakan, MCA and MIC can hold their heads high.

But it would be best if Pakatan takes over Putrajaya so that not a single sen of the RM120 million will fall into the Umnoputras' pockets.

CiViC: Don't just look at the surface, this is basically Umno allocating money out from the federal government to fund its coming election campaign.

Call it whatever project it may be, in the end, the issuance of the cash will go untraced and overinflated to Umno and its cronies to do all the dirty work in getting Penang back.

Dont Just Talk: While the federal government has increased Penang bumiputera participation by 45.5 percent from RM82.5 million to RM120 million, what about the poor non-bumis, the Chinese and Indians, who are also Malaysians?

It is time to do away with the racial definitions/quotas and instead provide allocations to all deserving Malaysians as the way forward.

MCA, MIC and Gerakan, what have you to say on the matter as a member of BN, that after 55 years of independence we still practice apartheid policies in the country?

By the way, what is a RM120 million allocation for the Penang bumis when the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) cow-condos allocation was RM250 million?

Anonymous #33877536: What about cash for the Penang Indians and Chinese? What happened to the 1Malaysia preached by Najib?

How much more allocation do you want to give the bumiputeras - is there no end to this? You are only destroying your own community with money. Money isn't everything in life, you have to teach them how to fish.

Isana: Umno cronies will benefit most of this scheme, and probably only a tiny portion will reach the actual beneficiaries.

BN as usual practices racist policies to the hilt, to the extent that other needy groups are sidelined. MCA, MIC, Gerakan, are you all deaf to Umno?

Jedi_Who: Najib and BN-Umno are like debt-ridden Santa Clauses gambling away the rakyat's money to win GE13.

What he gives will eventually be taken away because in the end, there will not be enough for all and we will come tumbling down.

Chua Jr continues scoffing at Pakatan's budget

Anonymous #19098644: Labis MP Chua Tee Yong, the debt burden of a country is the total borrowing by the federal and state governments. You are too stupid to understand basic economics.

When your raise basic wages, you attract more people such as housewives and seniors to work. It also forces industry to improve productivity and modernise their businesses.

The higher wages drive consumption and leads to higher growth. As for illicit and foreign workers, we need to control the numbers and phase out the low-wage industries which are dependent on foreigners to survive.

Maplesyrup: When BN introduced a minimum wage, one of the rationales put forward was that as wage rises locals would be willing to take up jobs that were previously held by foreign workers.

How come then that when Pakatan proposes to increase the minimum wage, it has become untenable? Malaysian politicians particularly those from BN need to raise their game and be more professional and competent.

On the other hand, I congratulate Chua, because he is learning the ropes of ‘oppose for the sake of opposing' well. He will have no problem sitting on the opposition bench after GE13, assuming he gets enough postal votes to win.

Onyourtoes: Sometimes I wonder it is worthwhile to argue with a nincompoop like you, Chua, whose only credibility is you are your father's son. Do you know what you have just said? We Malaysians should continue exploiting foreign workers even harder.

Never mind the fact it was precisely due to this cheap wage policy that has encouraged Malaysian employers to take in millions of them into our country.

In Malaysia today, even our hawkers are leveraging on foreign workers. Never mind that wages now constitute less than 30 percent of the national income with the rest of the money going to owners of capitalist and the entrepreneurial class.

Never mind that the social costs of foreign workers are being paid by all Malaysians, not just the employers of these workers. Never mind that because of the low wages, it has retarded mechanisation and innovation making our production as rudimentary as it was 30 years ago.

Why don't you take a look at our construction sites to see whether what I have just said is true? Why don't you take a look at our social habits, hygiene standards and lifestyles today?

If you have not noticed - that Malaysia has become a giant rubbish dump filled with rogues and stupid people - it means you are not socially sensitive to what is going on in this country.

Go ahead, keep the wages low and the consequence is more Malaysians will leave and more unskilled foreigners will come.

2ctsworth: Chua Junior, what is your comment on the rampant corruption in BN? What is your comment on Malacca CM Ali Rustam's wedding expenses?

The projections of Pakatan's promises are yet to be seen, but Penang and Selangor have shown some inkling of what the opposition can do for the economy. This is promising.

Just know that a clean government will revive our chaotic economy brought about by extensive corruption in BN. Pakatan's proposed RM200 increase in minimum wages is possible with a brighter economic scene.

Jk7462000: Here we go again. The father, the son, and their holy crap. This ex-CFO, chartered accountant and deputy minister cannot even tell a debt recovery exercise from outright corruption.

Fair&Just: One of the basic criteria to be a BN winnable candidate could be to continuously shout and dispense wanton and blatant allegations all over the place, hoping that one of the issues will attract enough attention of the master.
