MCA Wanita national chairperson Yu Chok Tow has expressed fears that all Muslim MPs, including those from Umno, will be duty bound to support PAS’ hudud proposal should Pakatan Rakyat win the next general election.

mca wanita agm 201012 02 “(DAP) claims that PAS won’t be able to engineer an amendment to the federal constitution to implement hudud, but the fact is that out of the 222 parliament seats, 133 are held by Muslim MPs,” she said when delivering the opening speech at the MCA Wanita annual general assembly in Kuala Lumpur.

“Due to their religious concern, Umno and PKR Muslim parliamentarians will have no choice but support the (hudud) bill, paving the way to the two-third requirement for constitution amendment.”

Though Yu conceded that the Muslim MPs are still short of 15 to obtain two-thirds majority, she nevertheless insisted that hudud would be implemented should a constitutional amendment is tabled in Parliament.

As such, Yu warned that Malaysia will turn into a theocratic state if Chinese Malaysians vote for Pakatan.

‘Kelantan has highest crime rates, most AIDS patients’

MCA secretary-general Kong Cho Ha also claimed that PAS had practised bad governance in Kelantan.

“Kelantan is the worst in terms of attracting foreign direct investment, economic development, competitiveness and income per capita in the nation,” he said in his address at the assembly.

“However, Kelantan is the highest in term of unemployment, and number of AIDS patients and drug addicts.”

Meanwhile, Yu also urged the judiciary to jail those who committed underage rape.

She said that recent court decisions handing down suspended sentences for statutory rapists had created dissatisfaction among society.

In addition, she also said under the Najib Abdul Razak administration, Chinese education is progressing in a positive way as 11 new Chinese schools are being constructed and 60 have been relocated.
