Why S'gor Wanita Umno's silence over land deal?
Selangor Umno Wanita chief Raja Ropiaah Raja Abdullah must break silence over her involvement in the stalled RM100 million National Defence Education Centre (Puspahanas) project," said Selangor PKR Wanita.
Selangor Umno Wanita chief Raja Ropiaah Raja Abdullah must break silence over her involvement in the stalled RM100 million National Defence Education Centre (Puspahanas) project," said Selangor PKR Wanita.
"Raja Ropiaah must explain what made her company Awan Megah Sdn Bhd to qualify for the Puspahanas project as well as her involvement in the subsequent land deal with Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT)," said Selangor PKR Wanita chief Haniza Talha in a statement yesterday.
Haniza (

) pointed out that Raja Ropiaah's company had no experience but was commissioned to construct the Puspahanas facility, causing it to be left idle for five years before being sub-contracted to an 'Ali Baba' company.
The government had in 2005 tasked Raja Ropiaah's company to design and construct Puspahanas, in exchange for RM27 million and a 223-acre piece of land in Bukit Raja.
Raja Ropiaah's company had later allegedly approached businessperson Deepak Jaikishan's company AstaCanggih Sdn Bhd to finance the project, in exchange for 200 acres of the land.
However, Raja Ropiaah later engaged another company with a similar deal, angering Deepak who filed a lawsuit again her, accusing her of ‘double selling' the land.
Haniza questioned the timing of Deepak abruptly dropping his legal case against Raja Ropiaah and the Defence Ministry's LTAT then suddenly stepping in with RM160 million to buy up Deepak's company as well as Raja Ropiaah's land following their public quarrel that dragged in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
"It is clear there are suspicious elements involved," she said.
Haniza also hit out at Selangor Umno Wanita for its 'Sayangi Selangor' (Love Selangor) campaign, saying that the party was in fact doing the opposite.
"The issue surrounding Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and the National Feedlot Corporation project has just died down and now another Umno Wanita leader is embroiled in a government project scandal," she said.
