YOURSAY 'Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has now passed the baton to Raja Ropiaah. Who will be the next to take the lead?'
Why S'gor Wanita Umno's silence over land deal?
Paul Warren: You've got a five-year-old kid who is looking forward to his Christmas present. As a parent, you think he needs a Porsche - I mean a real one. You deliver it to him.
Question: Who is the fool - you or the child? Selangor Umno Wanita chief Raja Ropiaah Raja Abdullah is like the child.
Sure, she can be given contracts to cut the grass along the highway, but to build a RM100 million defence training centre? The lunacy of the giver has to be examined.
Dont Just Talk: When you are a top Umno leader holding the Selangor Wanita chief position, it is not necessary to have any construction experience when you bid for the multi-million Puspahanas (National Defence Education Centre) project.
It is not what you know, but who you know, and once the multi-million dollar project is obtained, the next thing to do is to sell the job to another party and pocket the difference as profit.
As alleged by businessman Deepak Jaikishan, if you are smart or daring, you can sell the project to someone and then again to another party, thus pocketing the profit twice.
After all, it is a willing-buyer and willing-seller market. If you don't believe me, just ask the expert, Umno ex-Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamad Khir Toyo.
Odin: You can't expect Raja Ropiaah to say anything. She cannot deny the accusation for the simple reason that she is clearly complicit in the corrupt practice. We can safely assume that Prime Minister Najib Razak has gotten a cut. That is another reason for her silence.
Incidentally, the company she has ‘Ali-Baba'ed the business to is a manufacturer of toothbrushes.
Such a company has been entrusted with the design and building of a RM100 defence whatever centre. Then again, that is nothing unusual as far as Umno-BN is concerned.
SiPekTuLan-BN-Liao: Apparently BN looters are embroiled in orgies to see who can swindle the most money in Malaysia.
Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has now passed the baton to Raja Ropiaah. Who will be the next to take the lead?
Dude: Yes, who shall be the next Wanita Umno chieftain after Raja Ropiaah? She must be eagerly awaiting her turn for enrichment. It seems to be SOP (standard operating procedure) for Wanita Umno to say, it is my turn for easy money.
After all, after Shahrizat case, successor Ropiah wasted no time to have her case plastered all over the Internet.
Not Confused: So what is new? Every incident of corruption and abuse of power within any section of Umno-BN is followed by embarrassed silence. None of them has the guts to be open or transparent in explaining the circumstances.
Their silence actually says a great deal more than any pathetic explanation that they might reluctantly concoct.
This Umno woman and her paper company that has lain dormant since the early 1990s was awarded this massive contract, but has done absolutely zero work on it.
She probably doesn't even know where to begin in fullfilling the objectives of the project. Pathetic, truly pathetic.
Mushiro: There seems to be a piece of cake (cow condos, contracts, cash, etc) for each of the Umno leaders before Umno finally crumbles. By the time Pakatan takes over, the damage would have been too colossal to repair.
Heavywater: Where is our MACC? Chasing cents instead of dollars, again?
Anonymous #79199503: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) is still in a daze, and waiting for further instructions to act. Expect ‘no further action' (NFA) to be its final decision.
Likewise ‘Talam' Chua Tee Yong, the MCA Young Professionals Bureau chairperson, is also very quiet, afraid to upset the applecart.
Boustead: Talks with Deepak's firm not recent
Gerard Lourdesamy: Yes, it makes commercial sense to negotiate a land deal over seven years.
The entire deal stinks to high heaven and is designed to extricate PM Najib Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, from this whole mess with Deepak and Raja Roopiah who must be laughing all the way to the bank.
Mahashitla: This whole land deal smacks of cronyism, corruption and abuse of power. Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad must be credited for leaving such legacies behind.
A company which was not qualified to undertake the project, got it. A government-privatised land that cannot be transferred to a third party was done after Deepak made heavy contributions.
And this deal is but one 'ikan bilis' from a basketful. MACC, are you sleeping?
Opah: Essentially Raja Ropiaah has got RM27 million in cash and 223 acres of land for doing nothing. On top of that, she got another RM13 million from Deepak by promising to share the land with him.
Now that Deepak has started singing like a canary, Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) has to buy the land from Ropiaah and Deepak to hush him up.
Why give the land for free to Ropiaah (plus a cash bonus of RM27 million), then make LTAT buy the land from her?
If Najib really cares for the ex-servicemen then surely he should have given the land to LTAT for free from the very start.
Amoker: No army veterans' savings are used in this deal? You mean Boustead separate each ringgit at source? Don't lie lah.
1FunnyGovernment: I wonder what assets or existing businesses Astacanggih has to command a RM30 million price tag?
LTAT chairperson Admiral (Retired) Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor, care to detail it out? Or is Boustead just buying over a shell company?
Wak Kanto: This is one of the twists and turns to cover up bigger issues at stake. Yes, seven long years to complete a protracted land negotiation with a politician and a businessman.
The land could be much cheaper if the deal was closed earlier. What was the valuation then? Come on, Boustead, don't be suckers.
