Ignore Dr M's pre-Merdeka citizenship claims, says KJ

your say Enlightened: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ), investigation into citizenship granted pre-Merdeka, if initiated, should involve those who came in from Indonesia and the British government will inadvertently have to get involved.

Malaysians are not stupid. It is you who lacks the knowledge on history. Go on and investigate it. It will definitely turn out to be a blessing in disguise for those who know the conditions in which we were granted independence.

Hplooi: For once, I totally agree with KJ's call to ignore former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad's red herring and stay focused on the RCI.

However, his advice on "all parties, regardless of race or religion, to be more sensitive when issuing statements" should be directed point-blank to Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali and certain segments of the public who seem to be immune from persecution.

The rest of us have been sensitised to Malay-Muslim sensitivities for the past 50-odd years and would definitely not poke the proverbial 'hornet's nest'.

Louis: Khairy, instead of asking us, the non-Malays, to ignore Mahathir's allegation that we were illegal immigrants before Merdeka, you should reprimand him or condemn his statement as irresponsible.

Similarly for Ibrahim Ali's wild battle cry that bibles using ‘Allah' be seized and burnt, at best you ask him to be sensitive to other religious belief.

This advice has been repeated a million times already each time someone from Umno or Umno-linked organisations shows disrespect to Christians or makes wild accusation against Christianity.

None so far has been charged for sedition. It is better for you to say forthright that you and all Umno leaders are helpless against those two fellows.

Taikohtai: Sorry KJ but every untruth by Mahathir has to be nipped in the bud to stop it from festering. Mahathir's spins have been most toxic with far-reaching adverse effects on the nation.

You might want to be the next leader of BN but surely there is no dignity in leading a bunch of brainwashed nincompoops, is there?

J Yeoh: It was Mahathir who made the comparison (between the ongoing RCI with the pre-Merdeka citizenship issue). You should apologise on behalf of Umno for the old man's arrogance who suggested that Chinese and Indians were no different from those Sabah immigrants.

You too realise that Dr M is bringing down Umno just to save his own skin.

Awakened: Why consult KJ on the sensitive issues? He is the last person for you to ask for comments as what he did in the Umno assembly six years ago shows that he was insensitive to the feeling of other races.

Remember the showing of keris together with Hishammuddin Hussein? He is the same breed as Ibrahim, except that he has learned his lessons and toned down a lot after the 2008 elections.

But we have to thank him for causing the decline of BN and for waking up many leaders.

Malay Malaysians have mastered other languages too, such as English, Arab, Tamil and others. Are we going to burn all these bibles? Inject the Islamic faith into Muslims, instead of racialist thoughts.

Green Mutant: KJ, look at the big picture. He (Mahathir) is implying that non-Malay voters are insignificant and it is not a big loss without them. More importantly is the number of Malay voters he gained.

A rights group refers to those fighting for their legitimate rights, not those who seek to oppress others. It is a fundamental mistake by the media to give such groups so much credit.
