The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar today criticised those who alleged the police could not be trusted.

He said such allegations did not make sense and was very extreme.

"Such statements are only made by criminals, as they twist the facts and blame the laws to escape punishment," he said when opening the Kulaijaya police headquarters in Johor Baharu today.

Also present were the Sultan's wife, Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah; Tunku Mahkota of Johor Ismail Idris; Tunku Temenggong of Johor Idris Iskandar, Menteri Besar Abdul Ghani Othman, Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar; Deputy Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar and Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff.

The sultan said every policeman was trained and equipped with knowledge to enforce the law.

He praised the Johor police for improving security in the state and giving consideration to the sensitivities of the communities, as well as economic interests.
