Waytha, don't hold a gun to Pakatan's head

YOURSAY 'How will Hindraf be viewed should it ironically help BN retain power? It will be viewed with contempt, disdain, suspicion and treachery...'

No electoral pact with BN, says Waythamoorthy

your say SS Dhaliwal : Hindraf is a hindrance towards the formation of a two-party system, something which will benefit the minority races, including the Indians.

P Waythamoorthy, be part of the solution and not the problem. How will Hindraf be viewed should it ironically help BN retain power? It will be viewed with contempt, disdain, suspicion and treachery, not just Hindraf but for the very Indians you proclaim to represent.

Anon: You had been cheated for 55 long years, and you still believe in BN? They are already in power - if they wanted to help the Indians, they should have done it long before now.

Just forget about BN, support Pakatan all the way. If Hindraf ends up with BN, I could not but think that there must be some sweets given to Hindraf leaders.

Arankanathan: Pakatan has got more Indians in Parliament than BN, and you still want to court BN? Think big, you need to win the war, not the small battles.

Chee Hoe Siew: Waythamoorthy is currently standing on two boats with each foot. In my opinion, Hindraf under his lead has strayed away from its original direction.

Has he even considered which government had led the Indians to where they are today? And Waythamoorthy is now trying to cut a deal while inside the tiger's mouth? Pakatan should not be dealing with such an opportunist at all.

Ace: Waytha, are you so naive that you will believe the PM if he 'endorses' your blueprint? His list of lies and broken promises is there for all to see.

His broken and tattered 1Malaysia (aka Sapu Malaysia) is the most obvious one. I rest my case.

Onyourtoes: So you want both BN and Pakatan to compete for your affection. To you, it does not matter whether the two coalitions are different and it does not matter whether your blueprint is reasonable (at least in the immediate term).

Politics is about gaining power; without power, there is nothing to shout about no matter how noble the intention may be. Do you think Pakatan will be able to gain power by acceding to every one of Hindraf's demands?

Do you think BN will give in to you if they want to maintain power? Stupid is what stupid does - intelligent people doing stupid things is still stupid.

To you Hindraf, nothing works - not a two-party system, not better checks and balance, not men and women with better ideas and integrity, not leadership, nothing.

To you, everybody screws you - Umno-BN, Pakatan, MIC, the ruling elites, the Chinese, the British, and maybe even the weather.

Vote-For-Change: Waytha, why don't you ask PM Najib Abdul Razak to dump the MIC president and replace him with you? See what he will tell you.

I see an opportunist in you, rather a person with a great vision to help Indian Malaysians and Malaysians in general. Stop whining and get real, and stand up against Umno - the creator of all Malaysians' problems, including the Indians'.

Anonymous_40f4 : Hindraf should also ask BN for seven parliamentary and nine state seats.

Boiling Mud: On the one hand, Waythamoorthy, you decry that the Indian community have lacked equal rights and opportunities for 55 years due to the unjust treatment from the government.

On the other hand, you are prepared to consider the possibility of supporting the very same government if it endorses the Hindraf blueprint?

Do you think by endorsing the blueprint out of desperation to win over the support of your followers, the same cheating government would implement the blueprint if it won in GE13?

While Malaysia is in dire need for change, throwing a spanner in the wheel of progress will take this country further towards self-destruction. So, pray tell us, what is your stance? There is no two ways about this.

Pink Floyd: Waytha, don't be too obstinate. Take the middle ground. Sure you can put forth your blueprint but not to the extent of insisting on everyone endorsing it.

Look at the Chinese and Malays, many of them have been marginalised too. Did they put up a blueprint too? To endorse the Hindraf blueprint is thus not appropriate and may send out the wrong signals.

It's better to trust Pakatan than the Umno-BN villains, who are desperate to cling on to power to continue their heinous crimes. Give Pakatan a chance to see what they can offer, they would be anytime better than the much vilified Umno-BN.

Gen2indian: Brother Waytha, much as I admire your commitment and sacrifice to the Indian cause, now is not the time to hold a gun to Pakatan's head.

We have been neglected for 55 years, so any corrective action would surely take time. At least with Pakatan, we have an alternative unlike the empty promises from BN as usual.

The way to go would be to get a written commitment from Pakatan to look into the Indians' problems and leave the nitty-gritty to after the GE13.

Right now, the greater issue is the common enemy we all have, that pseudo-democracy we have sitting in Putrajaya now. So let's focus on slaying this demon first and the rest would fall in place in due course.

MockingYou: There will be no end to this as long as Pakatan remains silent. I would like to highlight Pakatan's failure to address the issue of amending the blueprint even though it was reported that Waytha said that it was amendable, thus gaining the moral high ground.

Politics is dirty, but that doesn't mean that accommodation can't be reached so that the rakyat can have a better alternative to Umno-BN's rule. My say is for Pakatan and Hindraf to sit together and rework the blueprint, and word it so that it would be acceptable all.

Islander: Whatever Pakatan may agree with Hindraf, do not agree to let them have seats to contest.

First, it sets a bad precedent for Pakatan. Two, even if Hindraf were to win with Pakatan support, it may hold Pakatan to ransom if things don't go Hindraf's way.

Third, Pakatan should not try to be all things to all people, but be seen to have a concrete programme to reform and develop Malaysia to serve all Malaysians, giving priority to any disadvantaged and most deserving groups in its economic and social policies without identifying these groups by race.

Mamakkutty: There are now 12 parties in Malaysia ‘fighting for Indian rights', a real joke indeed.
