Former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has expressed his confidence that BN would secure a big win in the 13th general election due to changes made through various transformation plans.

"If you want a strong government, give BN the two-thirds majority to enable all planning and the transformation plans to be implemented for the benefit of the people," he told reporters after launching the KD Sri Penang's 'Jiwa Murni' (noble soul) programme in Permatang Sintok, Kepala Batas today.

At the one-day event, 75 Royal Malaysian Navy volunteer reserves and residents joined hands in repairing and cleaning up houses owned by people with disabilities and the needy in the area.

On the dissolution of Parliament, he said it was not an issue for Prime Minister Najib Razak has a specific timeframe to do so.

Pakatan will retard development

Meanwhile, Johor Menteri Besar Abdul Ghani Othman said economic growth would be stunted should Pakatan Rakyat win power.

"When this happens, the situation in the country will be uncertain and, of more concern, Malaysia will not progress," he said when opening a Ledang Parliament Youth Friendly fiesta carnival at Pulau Penarik Square, Sungai Mati, Tangkak, last night attended by 3,000 youths.

Abdul Ghani said, under the leadership of Najib, the young generation received better attention, to the extent they could interact with the PM, via the social media.

He explained that the concern of the PM proved BN government was sensitive to the problems and hopes of the young people in the country.

As such, he said, the young generation had no other choice except to defend the BN government in the GE13 to ensure that Malaysia continued to be strong.
