VOXPOP 'Sarawak CM Taib has publicly said he does not want to cooperate with MACC, isn't that against the law?'

MACC has no comment on Taib's 'naughty' remark

your sayGiudice: Don't want to comment or don't dare to comment? A so-called independent body set up to investigate corruption has been called "naughty and dishonest" by a person supposedly under investigation by the body and there is no comment?

I say let's just shut down the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Not only will there be no effect on the level of corruption in Malaysia, we will save a lot of money that is currently going down the drain maintaining the agency.

Holden: Could the MACC and their heads please clarify why Sarawak CM Abdul Taib Mahmud is not under investigation.

Your silence and inaction is actually making your political masters look even worse. This problem will not go away and it will not be forgotten just because you play ostrich by burying your head in the sand.

Ericlcc: MACC is just like any ordinary government department, where senior officers are promoted and put into position by their political masters.

They in return have to "menurut perintah" to instructions from these politicians. Their new designation "commission" sounds grandiose but in effect is nothing but a hollow shell.

There is nothing to suggest it can ever emulate the more famous Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in Hong Kong.

Ruslan Bahari: I wonder how the MACC can give a no response. It defies common corporate culture. When you are designated to fight corruption and someone attacks your integrity, so you must respond.

Multi Racial: The anti-corruption agency is scared of certain people? Why? Taib has publicly said he does not want to cooperate with MACC, isn't that against the law?

Can't MACC take action against Taib? Maybe one solution is for MACC officers to vote for Pakatan and I am sure Pakatan will give them the authority they need.

But before that, Pakatan needs to reform the agency to make it accountable to Parliament.

Fantastic4: It's so obvious who MACC works for. Without the "master's" order, they can't even "bark", let alone bite. It's time to revamp the MACC when Pakatan comes to power.

2zzzxxx: Given that Taib is above the law, what's there for MACC to comment?

Longjaafar: It is a sad day not only for MACC but for the whole nation - here we have an individual who is deemed more powerful than a government institution.

So, what's so special about May 5?

LittleGiant: Well, May 5 may be World Laughter Day. But to the Malaysian electorate, it is no laughing matter.

It is a day of serious business to end BN's five decades of corrupt administration of the country and bring in a new government with the promise of a corrupt-free Malaysia.

Anonymous #25558299: BN has laughed enough for 56 years and now let the rakyat laugh at them and let Pakatan Rakyat rejoice.

Quigonbond: May 5 is a week before Mother's Day, and eight days before May 13. Malaysians should think which coalition will serve the best interest of women and racial harmony. On both counts, it's clearly Pakatan.

With BN, we had a woman affairs minister who is more interested at securing Wanita Umno power no matter what shame it brings to her.

With BN, we have outsourcing of racial and religious bigotry to Perkasa. No doubt, BN will use the polling day's proximity to May 13 to scare Malaysians.

In stark contrast, Pakatan is thriving on racial and religious diversity, and with fiscal and environmental discipline, will take care of mothers and their children so that their children may live in a clean environment in the future and is free from crushing national debt.

There is no better timely reminder to Malaysians, regardless of race, religion or economic or social standing, to choose the right party and usher in a brighter tomorrow for Malaysia.

Henry: Don't forget the significance of Cinco de Mayo:

From Wikipedia, it originated with Mexican-American communities in the American West as a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War, and today the date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.

In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

Hiu Woong-sin: Crafty Election Commission calling the election on a Sunday instead of other day is for all those ‘instant' Malaysians who couldn't take other days off to come out in force to vote.

So Malaysians, be vigilant.
