YOURSAY ‘EC, can we shake your heads so that it can work better, and you can stop coming up with lame excuses like this?
EC staff 'made mistake by not shaking indelible ink bottle'
Geronimo: Were the tests done in the presence of credible parties or were they done behind closed doors? To say that the officer did not shake the bottle before applying the ink is one hell of a flimsy excuse.
This is tantamount to utter negligence bordering on cheating the rakyat of their rights.
Son of The Eternal Bliss: Considering the cost of the ink and the important nature of the general election, the excuse being given by the Election Commission is downright ridiculous.
If you need to shake the bottle for the required results, then the chemical component of the ink must be of downright low quality.
In every aspect, this government proves its "tidak apa" attitude when it comes to spending public funds. Accountability has never been the strength of the BN ruling elite.
Apa nama: So we can shake the bottle at certain polling stations and we also can choose not to shake the bottle at other polling stations. Therefore, voters from the polling station which did not shake the bottle could cast their vote again in another polling station.
What a cunning way of voting and making BN win. Hello EC, don't insult our intelligence.
If you do not want to reveal the colour of the ink, it is fine. Why do you not want to demonstrate the effectiveness of the ink to public prior to voting day?
Anonymous_3e86: Is it possible that all polling stations for early voters did not follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) in shaking the ink bottle?
Did this happen only in one polling station? If cases were reported in all polling stations, then it's very likely that the ink is indeed erasable.
Silas jugdip: You mean you never impressed upon your staff the importance of shaking the bottle? Is it not stated on the bottle or container that shaking is mandatory? Even a medicine bottle is printed with words "shake before use".
Changeagent: EC, can we shake your heads so that it can work better and you can stop coming up with lame excuses like this?
There is a real crisis of public confidence in the integrity and independence of the EC, and all you can do is spout more incoherent nonsense.
The key matter here is that the indelible ink can be easily removed. What is EC going to do about it now? Please don't tell us you will shake the ink bottle even more.
Clearwater: Now the greatest secret is out - the indelible ink used by the EC is not so indelible after all.
One thing that will make GE13 memorable for voters, notwithstanding which side wins, is the indelibly dumb trio of EC chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, deputy Wan Ahmad Wan Omar and secretary Kamaruddin Mohamed Baria.
Tholu: With Papagomo's case of double registration in the electoral roll - one with a police IC and another with a civilian IC - EC secretary's assurance that the early voters names will not appear in the ordinary voters roll is nothing but a pathetic attempt to pull wool over the peeled and vigilant eyes of the people.
EC is a wooden post riddled with degrading and rotting defects. No attempts by it to appear standing strong and durable would safe it from collapsing even with a light trip by an aged foraging mouse.
TehTarik: Lies, lies, lies. Please stop hoodwinking the public. Once Pakatan Rakyat comes into power, a special prison will have to be built for all these EC criminals.
They should spend many years in solitary confinement. This will give these criminals a chance to reflect on their sins, and hopefully repent.
In the course of my work yesterday, I had an encounter with a uniformed personnel. He had just cast his vote. I was able to easily remove the so-called indelible ink from his finger with one swipe of an alcohol swab.
Ramesh Rajaratnam: The EC is the laughing stock of the rakyat. Good thing too, as we need some comedy in these tense times.
Alzhsh: The Star in February 2008 reported that: "Wan Ahmad said ... the ink would stay for about two weeks" and "...all presiding officers ... have been told of the guidelines on conducting polls, including the use of the ink.
"This will cost RM2.4mil and the whole procedure will take less than RM1 million to implement. He procured the ink from India at that time."
Indiamart, a supplier of election ink, describes its product as "uniform in appearance without any particles or sediments and will not coagulate or decompose." This implies that no shaking of the ink is needed as there is no sediment.
In fact, my Internet research on other similar products by studying the instructions label on the ink containers all lead to the conclusion that the ink is meant to be ready for use by just removing the seal.
So EC is giving us an unacceptable excuse for reasons only they know.
Thorninflesh: What bloody nonsense is this? This is what you get when you employ people with connections rather than people with intelligence. They can't even come up with a good lie.
Hmmmmmmmm: So will the EC now ask all those early voters to come back to re-ink their fingers?
