YOURSAY ‘Let's hope Ismail Omar will discharge his duty... Otherwise he could end up as one of those VVIPs fleeing.'

IGP: Don't believe rumours of VVIPs fleeing country

your say 2zzzxxx: Inspector-general of police (IGP) Ismail Omar, in Bolehland, rumours always turn out to be the truth. We have more than half a century of experience. And with you coming out to deny them, this gives the rumours even more credence.

When you say, "Trust us" the rakyat are very worried as you know very well you're the most untrustworthy person alive.

Anonymous #00830595: Why such a negative perception? Er... because that's exactly what happened when Selangor fell to the opposition in the last general election. "Some people" started to shredding documents before reluctantly giving up their offices?

Quigonbond: IGP, it's not your place to say whether there should be street demonstrations or not. By all accounts, the election is going to be a close shave.

If BN wins by a landslide, there is no doubt on anyone's minds that this has been achieved on the back of massive electoral fraud.

You expect right-thinking, patriotic citizens to simply sit quietly after their right to a government of their choice had been subverted by phantoms and foreigners?

CQ MUAR: Quigonbond, I salute your classic comment in addressing the IGP. You had echoed what was in my mind.

Let's hope Ismail Omar will discharge his duty without fear or favour, and stand true to his professional integrity. Otherwise he could end up as one of those VVIPs fleeing.

Sali Tambap: I can't blame these people with ill-gotten riches fleeing the country with their spoils. Already they feel the ship is sinking and they just want to save their own skins and retrieve whatever that they can bring along with them.

Obviously, they cannot bring all their temporal goods with them to hell when they die.

Onyourtoes: Physically they are still here, hoping against hope they would win. But IGP, have you checked whether they have moved their assets and wealth out of Malaysia in the last two years?

Cala: Do you trust the police chief? The corporate culture of the police is built through time. It is about the norms, belief system and the way of working.

No single individual can run away from the web of influence of the corporate culture which is further elaborated by organisational institutionalism. As an example, under this system, an individual's opinion is not encouraged, group preference is given priority.

So Ismail Omar's interpretation will carry weight only if it is the image the force have built through time. Put simply, have the police earned the trust? Have they been consistently telling the truth?

Whatsup: IGP, how can you expect the rakyat to accept results that are fraudulently manipulated with selective use of indelible ink, phantom voters, vote and MP buying, threats, etc.

We even resigned our fate to lopsided constituencies and gerrymandering by the Election Commission (EC), how else can you expect us to accept large-scale fraud? Is this democracy?

No wonder the rakyat were warned to accept the results - apparently Umno knows that the rakyat will be very unhappy. Why? Because of shameful acts of fraud despite most of the rakyat wanting a change and supporting the opposition.

Look at the crowd at the opposition's ceramah, there's no way Umno-BN can still emerge a winner at GE13.

Ferdtan: Be scared, very scared. The time has come for all the top personnel in police, immigration, EC and other civil agencies to account for their illegal acts.

The lowly officers have nothing to fear as you have to follow instructions from above. If you don't want trouble with the new government, just don't go overboard with the instructions given by your current bosses.

John Goh TC: I was told by reliable sources that many Johor tycoons have left Malaysia immediately after caretaker Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak dissolved parliament.

Reason: Umno would normally request these tycoons to donate big during the general election. The trouble this round is that all the tycoons know very well BN would lose, so why donate for a failing party?

Amoker: IGP, did you actually investigate or are you just saying the usual? I have a friend whose rich parents have already left the country.

Hplooi: When the press, the fifth estate, is compromised and when the official government version has been proven to be consistently at odds with the reality on the ground, then rumours will abound and all sorts of dark conspiracy theories swirl.

Patriot: All entry and exit points are well-guarded. Yes, of course. That is why about 200 armed members of the so-called Royal Sulu Army just "walked through" to Lahad Datu without being detected. What a joke.
