Thugs in Penang disrupt vigil for Adam Adli
Absalom: It is a sad state of affairs in Malaysia. Students being bullied by rowdies and the police just watch from the sidelines. We teach our children to stand up for what is right, but in the real world - especially in Malaysia now - it is not what is right that counts.
Here is a government, which does not have the support of the majority, hell-bent on suppressing the rights of the people, manipulating democracy, using thugs to do its dirty work, and instead protects the big crooks and swindlers who have stolen the wealth of the nation.
If this is not rock bottom, I don't know what is.
Kamikasi: All groups wishing to see a peaceful Malaysia should be smart enough to see the events unfolding since the GE13. Certain powerful groups, through the government media, are trying to provoke Malaysians into confrontations. This explains why certain privileged groups are given the liberty and freedom to insult other minority groups - especially the Chinese - with impunity.
Should the communities clash, their grand design would have succeeded. This is the way to convince the Malays that their rights are under threat. So people, especially the Chinese, please be aware that the various communities (Malays, Chinese, Indians, Dusuns, Kadazans, Ibans and other minority races) in Malaysia are peace-loving people. So be very careful not to be dragged into any unnecessary confrontation.
Disgusted: The only way to take this country forward from corruption and anarchy is via people's power. The rakyat can't keep quiet and let this continue, where gangsterism and thuggish behaviour become a normal way of life, and where the rakyat would be living in fear.
The police do not carry out their jobs of keeping the peace without fear or favour and seem to be only interested in protecting BN's interests, not the rakyat's. Rampant crime, such as muggings, shootings, mat rempit, purse-snatching, burglary and even murder, are now becoming common, not raising the eyebrow of the Home Ministry at all.
Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi - on his first day - even started issuing threats against the rakyat and playing politics. Such is the transformation of Najib Abdul Razak's 1Malaysia, all bought with 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) and forgery in the elections.
Only the rakyat - with God's help - can save Malaysia. Forget about Sabahans and Sarawakians, they can languish in poverty and exploitation. They asked for it by voting for BN overwhelmingly. We, on the other hand, have to save ourselves in the peninsula.
RR: The leaders, assemblypersons, and MPs of Pakatan component parties should make serious inroads into the police and Armed Forces with their friends and relatives to rationalise matters for the police and army to be neutral and fair to both sides of the political divide.
Tell the police and army leaders that when Pakatan Rakyat forms the next government it would be an embarrassment for them. Hundreds of thousands of public have expressed this strong view umpteen times, and yet the police command is not neutral and selective in arresting and charging people.
Anonymous #02382443: When will these thugs grow up and learn to be mature and respectful of the due process of the law? Unhappy? Go make a police report and leave it to those paid to do their jobs.
Why bully these students? Why didn't they try to rough up the people at the Black 505 rallies? They are simply cowards!
Malaysianist: Zahid, from now on, I as taxpayer (and master) shall watch you, my servant (who gets your salary from my taxes) with every word you utter, including your later 'corrections', your actions in your performance of duty as home minister supposedly in charge of national security, public administration, national peace and racial harmony.
You have omitted to act on the slanderous Utusan Malaysia reports and the thugs; you have not defended innocent people like student activist Adam Adli Abdul Halim; and you have threatened people who want democracy and want to be able to voice out democratically. This serves as your first warning letter.
Sinner: Dear inspector-general of police (IGP), you have no qualms arresting peaceful citizens. Now, will you arrest these violent people?
Adsertor: The police and the government seem to be sanctioning racist rhetoric and the rowdy and violent behaviour of hired thugs.
Do Najib, Umno and BN seriously expect support for the BN government with all these anti-social activities going on? Or are they trying to intimidate Malaysians into submitting to their whims and fancies? Malaysians of today are not gullible and will definitely stand up for their rights.
Lokaikai: To the activists, please wear protective gear when doing any street protests. Don't let these thugs hurt you. You must learn to defend yourself. These thugs are not enforcement people, they have no power to hurt you, and if they do, you just have to fight back for your own safety.
HUMAN BEING: Maybe we should try this method - it is called "citizen's arrest". Somebody should organise a vigilante group and arrest these thugs, handcuff them, and take lots of pictures of them. Of course, you must have evidence before you take action.
Anonymous_3fe4: I wonder if it is legal nowadays to be a thug...
Geronimo: Having a political discourse with the opposition to debate on the nation's future is against our culture. But hooliganism such as this is not? Way to go, Umno!
Oh, by the way, if these Umno blokes are not happy, why don't they migrate elsewhere and leave us alone then.
