'Gov't would rather arrest rally-goers than illegals'

YOURSAY 'The home minister and defence minister are only good at threatening ordinary peaceful Malaysians for exercising their democratic rights..."

Foreigners in Sabah spook enforcement teams

your say Lover Boy: Please understand this, the Kunak water village belongs to the Suluks and the Bajaus. They may be on Malaysian waters, but that area is independent and none of the Malaysian authorities have a right to go in there.

This has been so for many, many years already and you ask any Sabahan staying from Semporna straight up to Lahad Datu, it is all the same.

Whether they have a Malaysian blue IC or not, they still get treated in Malaysian hospitals and their children go to their own schools in the water village, they have their own curriculum there.

No one dares touch them because these are Dr Mahathir Mohamad's people under Project M.

Apacerita: How shameful. They are not afraid of our authorities and have the cheek to even threaten them. And our authorities are afraid of these people! No wonder our crime rate keeps going up.

BTN: It is an open secret that the population in Sabah boomed during former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad's tenure.

Ask him about all this and most likely he will say, "I didn't know anything about it. Anwar was responsible."

MockingYou: What? Those illegal immigrants dare to obstruct the king's and the rakyat's servants? How insulting, and no prize for guessing who made their life easy.

Holden: Home minister and defence minister, these are pertinent and real security issues.

While you are good at threatening the ordinary peaceful Malaysian citizens with dire consequences for exercising their democratic rights, it's interesting to note that there is hardly a squeak from you on real security threats.

Where are you? Hiding under your desks?

Puma: So much for the big deal in arresting and showing violence against Malaysians who participated in the Bersih rallies.

Why not send all the FRU (riot police) and PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) they had deployed in those rallies to solve the problem once and for all in Sabah?

Ann: It's much easier to arrest and bully peaceful people attending candlelight vigils, no?

Limau: I am surprised, it is not the ability but the will. I believe that the middle-ranking officers of the army and police can act and solve the matter given clear empowerment and clear guidelines.

It is the top brass that have difficulty to decide with clarity on this issue, as there seems to be a superior power hovering over them. The bottom line is, the police are not independent.

Fernz: The past has caught up with us to haunt our future. Mahathir wanted to steal the country from the Orang Asal. When Anwar Ibrahim was deputy prime minister, he may have been part of the problem - he obviously kept quiet - rather than being part of the solution.

Now that he's in the opposition, he's self-servingly singing a different tune for reasons of political expediency. We have to give him the benefit of the doubt instead of clobbering him on the head for his unsavoury past.

It's no point pussyfooting around the issue or indulging in outright lies, disinformation, rhetoric and polemics like Mahathir, who should in fact be hanged for high treason. Ironically, both Mahathir and Anwar are of Indian origin.

Mahashitla: Mahathir should be the one to go to Sabah to look for solutions to clear the mess that was created by him to maintain his grip on power.

Anonymous_4056: They should give each and every one of them blue IC with full bumiputera status. Award them 1,000 PNB shares free that only Muslim are qualified to receive, and as for the rest non-Muslims in Sabah, chase them back to sea.

Zahid Hamidi, our newly-minted home minister, should be put in charge of the operation, along with inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar as his deputy or second in command.

YF: Project Free IC is now ‘Project Free Nightmare'. You reap what you sow Sabah, and it's all thanks to Umno.

The terrorists will not leave because their boss Umno has given them a free hand to do anything they want. Sabah may end up as a terrorist battleground one day and it's all thanks to Umno's stupidity.

12345: Mr Home Minister and IGP, what have you to say? Legal Malaysians holding peaceful assemblies have been arrested but what about illegal immigrants staying in our land.

Are you to wait for another five to 10 years? Or are you going to take action immediately?

Shaolin Disciple: Where is the IGP on this? He cannot tolerate peaceful rallies and candlelight vigils, but dares not even send his men to tackle this problem.

Are the police only there to 'intimidate' Malaysians but will do nothing to these illegal immigrants? Is this a joke or what?

Bamboo: Other countries accept highly skilled immigrants to be their citizens. We, on the other hand, accept highly violent immigrants.
