YOURSAY 'The internal fighting in Umno must be bad, enough for Najib to seek peace with Anwar to secure his own position?'
Anwar declines Najib's gambits in Jakarta
Ahmed:
I give credit to PM Najib Razak for reaching out to Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to resolve the election dispute.
Pakatan Rakyat has made its point on the issue and should continue to push hard towards cleaning up the electoral process for future general elections (GEs).
The opposition should also spend more time and resources towards winning the support of rural Malays and East Malaysians. Democracy is indeed progressing in Malaysia.
Heavywater: The internal fighting in Umno must be bad, enough for Najib to seek peace with Anwar to secure his own position? Anwar must be doing something right. Kudos to Anwar.
Yahoo: How stupid can Najib be? Even if he offers millions to Anwar, Anwar would never be able to face the 51 percent of the voters ever again in his lifetime.
Raja Chulan: I pray that this talk about Najib and Anwar seeking the Indonesians to mediate in any deal on an internal political issue within Malaysia is untrue.
If indeed they are, then both are obviously compromising our national security, independence and sovereignty.
I am deeply ashamed of what is happening to our country and its politicians lately. Have we become so desperate to go to Indonesia, a third world country and an enemy not so long ago, to sort out our internal political differences?
Won't the Indonesians be tempted to act in their own vested interest in any deal that they would likely broker for both of them?
I do not believe one bit when Anwar says he went to Indonesia not to make any deal with Najib. His past actions put much doubt on his credibility. Like Najib, Anwar too is desperate. Anything seems possible.
DAP and PAS leaders should better watch out. Where do DAP and PAS stand as Najib and Anwar try to work out a deal with the help of the Indonesians? Anwar seems to be up his mischief again.
The Umno DNA in Anwar is still obvious - going around making deals behind the scene and flying here and there in borrowed jets. Will he not be indebted to all those who lend him these jets and other goodwill as well?
Will he be able to govern this country independently if he ever becomes our PM one day? A deputy PM and four minister's posts were not enough and therefore, the offer was rejected by Anwar.
Well, what is his request and what would satisfy him?
I now see the possibility that one day our citizens would be working as maids in Indonesia and the Philippines becoming a reality.
Let's get rid of these mad men, both Anwar and Najib. Let's find other more sensible ones to lead this beloved country.
SS Dhaliwal: It was an excellent move to avoid the PM, Anwar. We do not want crumbs thrown at us as a form or appeasement, we demand that our rights as citizens be respected and for the illegal Umno to vacate the government or at least grant us a re-election that is fair.
Pisasu 7: All these is because this government is only supported by 47 percent of the people. Where to hide one's face?
Something is seriously wrong with the system. One percent difference such as that between US presidential candidates George W Bush and Al Gore, was understandable.
Over here, it's four percent difference.
Anonymous #44199885: A unity government is a good idea. Pakatan should be given the half the cabinet minister portfolios considering their calibre and it should include Education, Home Affairs, Defence, Finance, Energy, Works, Health, Rural Development and Agriculture Ministry. The rest BN can hold.
Fair Play: Some may accuse Anwar of lying. He is playing a poker game. He ups the stake by stating what he had stated, if Terence Netto is to be believed.
Why didn't the PM respond either by denying or accusing Anwar of lying? There's no smoke without fire.
Athi: Has our PM no other tasks than meeting Anwar, a man of no principles and integrity? May be Anwar was the one who waited for the PM.
No one would believe this. Perhaps Anwar is very desperate to meet the honourable PM.
Lim Chong Leong: We cannot accept any offer from the fraudulent PM on something that of which does not belong to him in the first place, and which he fraudulently obtained. Nemo dat quod non habit .
It is not beyond our PM to wait for Anwar to do a deal. After all, he waited for Psy to ‘loh sang' on stage in Penang.
Domcr2001: Once an 88-year-old former Umno leader said, "In politics everything is possible, there are no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests."
How true his words were, unless he chooses to forget them.
