Roslan, to apologise is the decent thing to do

YOURSAY ‘It would appear that Roslan's attempt to harness publicity for himself using the race card has now backfired on him.'

Apologise for racist doctors claim, Roslan told

Onyourtoes: Even if it is due to shoddy service and low ethics, we still must hear from the other side, i.e from the doctors concerned. This is only fair. It is called the rule of natural justice.

But the accusation of Chinese doctors refusing to treat Malay patients is seditious. Even if one or two have that tendency, Pinang Tunggal assemblyperson Roslan Saidin should highlight it to the authorities for investigation.

To make public statement of this nature is incitement of hatred. He should be charged for sedition.

Telestai!: Kudos to Penang executive councillor for health Dr Afif Bahardin for putting Roslan in his proper place. By bringing a few alleged victims of poor service, Roslan thinks he can get away with his false allegations.

Malaysians are not new to bad public health service and the federal government bears much of the blame. With low pay and poor working conditions, it is easy to understand why the service is poor.

Siang Malam: Roslan blatantly accuses Chinese doctors of being racist but brought evidence of poor treatment - he can't prove his allegations, thus he needs to be censured by the Dewan and punished with a 12-month suspension with no salary.

Fair Play: It would appear that Roslan's attempt to harness publicity for himself using the race card has now backfired on him.

Watchtower: Apology is the decent thing to do and learn to be careful with your choice of words next time. Roslan may be carried away with the wrongly perceived party line of putting blame on the ‘Chinese tsunami' during the recent GE.

Now the ball is in his court on how to redeem himself and reclaim some respect from the honorable Dewan he represents.

Spikerini: It looked like there is a special directive from Umno to all Mps and ministers to take advantage of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's misguided 'Chinese tsunami' to play the race card to the hilt.

Some in their overzealousness tried to make every issue a racist one. It just showed the Umno elected representativs are not so intelligent.

Letek: This is a typical Umno assemblyperson who has nothing else to do but to stir racial disharmony in this country in order to gain a little cheap political exposure.

Adam Adil: Refer Roslan to the rights committee and slam him with all the penalties for misleading the Dewan, inciting the rakyat against the Chinese and Chinese doctors in particular, and bringing the medical profession into disrepute.

Justice Seeker: I saw the TV3 news on the matter. One of the four claimed she was sick and wanted to be warded and the doctor refused to admit her.

I want to ask her, who knows better a person's condition and whether it warrants admission or not - definitely it's the doctor.

As far as I know, government doctors don't discriminate by race or colour. We should appreciate them for doing long hours of work and the dedication to their service for the sick.

Bad Feng Shui: When was the last time an Umno leader apologised for his mistake? Never. The usual responses are to claim he was misquoted, or give a snarling denial, or to blame somebody else.

Mr Kalai: Roslan, as a responsible member of the state assembly, should have reported the matter to the hospital head and not bring embarrassment to all the doctors at the respective hospitals.

Now it is the duty of the health minister to summon Roslan and demand an explanation.

Believeitornot: Consider the similarities between this matter and the 'shower room' canteen - both are the result of decisions made by individuals who have abused their positions of authority with scant display of conscience of any kind.

Wildboar: The action of these doctors showed that they are definitely not the best mannered doctors and they must improve on their communication skill.

However, Roslan's action clearly proves that he is a racist and seeks to cause trouble and disrupt the peace amongst the races of Malaysia. He should be detained under Internal Security Act (ISA) because he is a threat to the country.

Fantastic4: This is precisely why the BN government should be laid to rest. The longer they are in power the wider the chasm they would create among the races. Bravo to 1Malaysia?

Mob1900: Pinang Tunggal assemblyperson will now medicate himself, no doctors for him.

SenyumUnta: Every issue is deemed 'anti-Malay' or 'anti-Muslims' or ‘anti-Islam'. Sadly my generation grew up with it.

Worse still, our 21st century digitised generation, too, will have to suffer similar situation.
