Najib's 1Malaysia has gone to the toilet

YOURSAY '1Malaysia has literally gone to the toilet' sums up this whole ugly incident and describes it in the most befitting manner.'

Don't pay taxes if ministry fails to act, non-Muslims told

your say Holden: Good call, MIC strategic director S Vell Paari. Perhaps you can start the ‘boycott taxes' movement. Also, perhaps you could organise a delegation to visit all schools.

There are many stories of mistreatment of non-Muslim students. It's time these were documented but the push to do so must come from those who have the capabilities.

But first name, shame and suspend this headmaster.

Geronimo: Don't pay taxes just because our kids are made to eat in the shower room? In fact, we should not be paying taxes at all for the kind treatment we are getting.

Quite frankly, what have we been benefitting from Umno Baru anyway but more religious persecution, racial bigotries, discrimination and more custodial deaths?

On top of that, our tax money have been abused through corruption. I have already made up my mind not to pay my tax this year and if all like-minded Malaysians were to do the same, what can Umno Baru do?

Fair And Just: "This is ridiculous!" said Vell Paari. "Is this what the children of non-Muslims have been reduced to? Having to hide in washrooms to eat. To be honest, I am at a loss for words.

"The future of this country appears bleak and I fear for the future of our children with such school authorities and teachers around."

Vell Paari, I commend you for your immediate and forthright response when others are kissing hands, feathering nests, and playing at damage control.

May I suggest that it would be most appropriate for the headmaster and the investigators from the ministry to hold their meeting in the toilet-adjoining room for firsthand experience.

Disgusted: The education minister should address this issue immediately and not keep quiet like a mouse as they always do. This is the way Umno's Islam is practiced during Ramadan.

Umno always keeps quiet about behaviour of their own kind against non-Muslims/Malays. There has been racist behaviour of civil servants towards other races in the past but many go unreported as rakyat feel that it is a waste of time to do so and no action will be taken, especially if it is against a Malay.

Previously, teachers who have been reported of being racists, persecuting and discriminating non-Malay students have got away scot free without any action taken.

The whole civil service is racist because of BTN (Biro Tatanegara) brainwashing and Umno's attitude towards non-Malays, which is picked up by all institutions of government where little Napoleons ride roughshod over everyone as they like without any action being taken when complaints about them are made.

Whatsup: They are mere kids and yet they have to see the ugly side of being blatantly marginalised and of all places in schools. This is outrageous - no sane person or anyone professing religious piety or religion-trained individuals should stomach this at all.

And don't count on BN component parties, they are responsible for this kind of treatment to their communities in the first place. And to think that there were still misplaced people supporting them. Where are your conscience?

Anonymous #04243331: It's time the teachers union especially NUTP, as a major stakeholder in education make a stand, on this issue. It's utter disgusting to know that we have such heads and senior assistants who had been chosen to bring about transformation in the education sector.

No wonder we are lagging behind even third world countries with regard to education.

LittleGiant: The statement by S Barathidasan, secretary-general of WargaAman, that PM Najib's "1Malaysia has literally gone to the toilet" sums up this whole ugly incident and describes it in the most befitting manner.

Politicians want probe into shower room canteen fiasco

Raja Chulan: The action and statement by Deputy Education Minister II P Kamalanathan is more like a public relations exercise to cover up the matter, rather than a solution.

We all know that he was a public relations practitioner before he became MP for Hulu Selangor but his job now, in situation like this calls for honesty and sincerity in investigating the facts and solving it, including punishing the wrongdoers (as a deterrent to others), not mere PR exercise alone.

Or, is he positioning himself as another obedient Umno mandore ever ready to step in as former MIC president S Samy Vellu's replacement?

For what has happened, would mere apologies and verbal assurances not to repeat the wrongdoing be sufficient? Is this the standard and precedent set for civil servants who are delinquent in carrying out their job?

Armchair Newspaper: The deputy minister is so quick to rule out "race or religion" as the rule was enforced on Muslims and non-Muslim. Clearly the rule only affected the non- fasting non-Muslims and not the fasting Muslims.

It's equally appalling to subject the school kids to this degrading treatment.

Most of us however see the action as segregating and subjecting the non-Muslim children to this appalling treatment, and the deputy minister is merely doing what MIC appendix knows best - offering incongruent excuses and defending the indefensible.

Cala: This incident lends credence to the effect that Malaysia, as a third world state, may have the best infrastructure, glittering public offices, and their politicians embraced in the trappings of the West, their mentality belongs to the third world.

It is a common sense to everyone except the headmaster that one does not take his meal in a toilet or shower room.

Jeremy Ng: The said principal has insulted Islam and all true Muslims. Fasting is test of Muslims faith in Allah. This true faith is to make them more tolerant and understanding.

Resistance against actual temptations will give Muslims the true understanding of humans suffering. Removal of temptations does not serve the purpose of fasting.

Sinner: From the photograph, it doesn't look like there is any renovation work going on in the canteen. I can only see innovation in cooking up an excuse.
