YOURSAY 'Like Don Quixote, charging against imagined dragons, Dr M is very dangerous because he dreams up new enemies every day.'

Mahathir: Do Chinese want to share or seize power?

your say Kairos: This ex-PM is really evil. Every word and statement of his is loaded with bad intent. The whole thrust of Dr Mahathir Mohamad's insinuations is to sow fear and distrust of the Chinese.

The main reason why the Chinese do well in this nation is not so much because but inspite of the prevailing conditions that are grossly unfavourable to them.

The Chinese survive and even manage to thrive is because they are innovative and hard working. As a race, the Chinese has a distinctive survival instinct that enables them to succeed, no thanks to the discriminatory policies of the ruling coalition.

The Chinese have absolutely no ambition to seize power to rule the country. They only want to be treated as equals in their ‘tanah air' which they love. They are totally cheesed off by the ‘Ketuanan Melayu' concept and the call to burn non-Muslim holy books.

The Chinese wants to be treated equally as fellow citizens of Malaysia together with the Malays. Is that too much to ask?

Cogito Ergo Sum: Like Don Quixote, charging against imagined dragons, Dr M is very dangerous because he dreams up new enemies every day to blame for BN's and Umno's race into oblivion.

The simple fact is it was not just the Chinese who threw their weight behind the opposition, which includes PAS and PKR. The average Malays and Indians voted for everyone but BN.

Stop this silly tirade and see a doctor, Dr M for your malady.

LittleGiant: I just cannot understand how PM Najib Razak and his Umno leaders have allowed Mahathir, a former PM, to go on spinning his ‘fairy tales' about the Chinese in Malaysia monopolising economic power and claiming that they now want to also grab political power.

Don't the Umno people realise that one of the main reasons the Chinese withdrew their support for BN in the last general elections (GE13) could have been because of all the unwanted and irrelevant statements that Mahathir made about the Chinese?

BN will never regain the support of the Chinese community if Umno fails to check Mahathir on his tirade and uncalled for comments against the Chinese Malaysians who have contributed immensely to nation building.

With the Hope for Better Malaysia: Being a Penangite and a Muslim, I fully support the Penang DAP government's aspiration to emulate Singapore, which will be good for Penang.

Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world and is an economic power in the region. Penang is now on the right track in emulating Singapore and there is tangible and positive change since the DAP-led government took over.

Gone are the days of road ‘potholes' in Jelutong, just to cite a typical example. It is also heartening to note that the ‘green' initiatives by the state government are being accepted well by Penangites.

Please do not be mistaken, Lim Guan Eng has high regards and respect for the sensitivities of the Muslim community in Penang and he supports the Islamic religious programmes and initiatives.

Penang has an international halal hub under the Penang state government initiative, something we are proud of. For now, we love Penang just the way it is.

Absalom: Actually, what we have is a Malaysian dilemma. With the relentless corruption, abuse of power and state wealth over time, people have come to realise that the ruling government of five decades is not the best we can have and is moving the country to gradually become a complete outcast in the modern world.

The majority of Malaysians (comprising all races) want to get rid of this old regime as proven by the popular vote count in the last GE. They want change, prudent management of taxpayers' money, policies that are fair to all people, and racial harmony.

However, there is a class of wealthy powerful people who cannot afford to let this change happen as they then have to face the law and defend their wealth and answer for their atrocities.

So they will do whatever it takes, including bribing and cheating in the elections, sparking racial and religious tension, to avoid losing control.

Indeed, the dilemma is how to get rid of this evil force and get honest people into government so that they can bring out the best in Malaysians.

Anonymous #07688157: With due respect, Mahathir, you need to allow the democratic process to flourish. With your constant interference in Umno and the use of racial card, you are ruining what the rakyat have.

What all races want is fair opportunity, access to good education, less corruption, safety, etc. Don't pit the Malays against the Chinese.

Go spend time with your grandchildren, write books with "your side of the story" and spend your remaining years in peace. Leave the rakyat decide what they want.

Onyourtoes: Mahathir is always looking at problems confronting this nation with a jaundiced eye. What Chinese economic power, Mahathir? You mean selling computers and handphones and running brothels and massage parlours?

Petronas alone makes more than half of the profits of all companies listed in Bursa Malaysia. Who controls the banking industry? Who controls telecommunication and broadcasting industries? Who control plantations and conglomerates like Sime Darby?

Who runs all the mandated pension funds, such as the EPF (Employees Provident Fund)? Who controls government procurements worth hundreds of billion of ringgit?

Who builds, operates and controls state infrastructures - from toll roads, electricity and water to garbage collection and disposal?

NAK: For the good future of our beloved country, the majority right-thinking Malays should speak up now before further damage is done. However much the Chinese speak and protest, it will not shut him up or affect him at all.

The more the Chinese speak against him, the more ill-informed Malays will rally behind him, thus giving him a false impression that the majority of Malays are supporting his distorted and vicious arguments.

Fair&Just: It looks like the old man aims to run the Chinese to the ground as if he has a psychological grudge and hatred towards them.

It seems to be his lifelong wish to subjugate the Chinese here, which he has done for decades as PM and seems to draw a sickening, sadistic pleasure from seeing the Chinese suffer and begging for survival and not able to rise up in life.

Many Chinese migrated, but the poor ones are stuck here and yet still able to survive despite all the discrimination and oppression, which have irked him to no end.

TehTarik: This octogenarian was probably traumatised in his childhood. His great fear of Chinese could be due to psychological trauma sustained during his childhood.

Probably a Chinese taxi driver or shopkeeper had humiliated him, hence his life long distrust of the Chinese.

It is never too late for the old man to seek the assistance of a counsellor or psychologist. It is very unfortunate that this probable early life psychological trauma has been extrapolated nationally, resulting in him becoming the Father of Racism.

One man's hurt ego can destroy a whole nation.

Dappy: Luckily he is already 88. I can't imagine the havoc he could have wreaked if time were on his side. Thank God, not much time left.
