The Altantuya saga - more questions than answers

YOURSAY 'On what basis was Perimekar appointed as project manager? Had it built a submarine or managed a submarine procurement project before?'

Scorpene broker: Altantuya never part of the deal

your say Fairplayer: If Altantuya Shaariibuu was not involved in the Scorpene submarine deal, why bother using then DPM Najib Razak's personal bodyguards to kill and blow her to bits? Why was she so dangerous that she must be "erased" from the face of the earth?

Why were the C4 explosives used? Why was her immigration records erased? The removal of her immigration records could be the reason why broker Jasbir Singh Chahl could not get accurate information about her involvement in the Scorpene deal.

If she had not been involved, would she have dared to enter Malaysia to claim her US$500,000 share of the ‘commission'?

OMG!!: On what basis was Perimekar appointed as project manager? Had it built a submarine or managed a submarine procurement project before?

Please open the contract for public scrutiny to justify the RM0.5 billion paid for "services" rendered.

Anonymous_3e79: Who is Jasbir Singh? And how did he come about to be the ‘architect' of the Scorpene submarine deal?

I don't recall him in the stand during the Altantuya murder trial. Can the company (Perimaker) substantiate the tangible work done for the RM400-plus million project in the form of expenses, human resources, costs, etc?

If not, it's a bribe.

Harapanbaru: "Jasbir argued that records by the French authorities showed that Altantuya had never entered France between 1999 and 2006."

It's most likely she entered using the name Aminah Abdullah on travel documents issued by somebody powerful in Malaysia.

Najib has been deadly silent on carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan and lawyer Americk Sidhu's disclosures about his and Rosmah Mansor's involvement in getting the late private eye P Balasubramaniam to retract his first SD (statutory declaration) and sneak him out of the country.

If Najib had nothing to do with Altantuya, why get the police to stop people from mentioning the name "Altantuya" during by-elections?

Slumdog: Didn't Najib say at the time that Deepak Jaikishan was not credible? So now we are supposed to believe this gibberish from Jasbir Singh?

Suddenly from nowhere he decides to give his two cents worth and we are all expected to take notice?

Anonymous_3e86: Suddenly a Jasbir Singh surfaces like a Scorpene submarine. But where was he all these years? Why didn't he appear years ago to say all these things?

To do it now it's too late. Nobody believes you, Jasbir. You would have been better off keeping quiet.

Pemerhati: Previously Najib used Deepak to do his dirty work when Bala spilled the beans about the Altantuya affair.

Now it looks like Najib is using Jasbir to try and minimise the damage resulting from the crooked Scorpene affair.

Limau: We outsource the purchase of the submarines and many activities related to it. Why?

What happens to our Armed Forces administration. Why can't we buy direct from France?

There are many people who know what is happening. Watched what is happening. And cannot stop the happening.

Magnus: How would the civil service officials working in the Defence Ministry on the Scorpene procurement deal have obtained value for money without a conflict of interest for the Malaysian rakyat to whom they owe their professionalism and trust when their related party LTAT (Armed Forces Fund Board) was part-owner of Perimekar?

Hang Babeuf: The French have an expression, "l'esprit d'escalier". It means the spirit, and wisdom or "smarts", of the "staircase".

The wisdom of the belated afterthought. It is what occurs to you, half a minute later, on your way out, as you go down the stairs after leaving the room - and you say to yourself "what I really should have said was ...!"

Well, this is no instant response or sudden afterthought. This is the "esprit" not of the staircase but of the glacier, when finally, after years, a piece breaks off and falls into the sea.

A lame excuse that is years in the making, and years after the event, is unlikely to prove credible. Nor is its author.

Dzulkefly Ahmad: Thailand and Singapore can buy more reliable and suitable submarines with RM7.3 billion. What is our submarines doing in Sabah? Preventing Sulu gunmen from sneaking in?

Malaysian 001: Sure Jasbir, we all believe you/ Go tell this story to a five-year-old. The kid may ask you to tell another joke.

What expertise has Perimekar's Abdul Razak Baginda has in the field of submarine support or training? Perhaps you can try to fly a kite inside the submarine.
