YOURSAY ‘State rep Lee Khai Loon is from PKR not DAP. So why blame DAP?’
Umno protesters: Does DAP want another May 13?
Negarawan: I would recommend reading the memoirs of LKY (Lee Kuan Yew) in which he recounted how the then Umno secretary-general Syed Jaafar Albar and then prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein instigated 1964 racial riots in Singapore and used Utusan Melayu to incite the Malays against the Chinese and to remove LKY from office.
The British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur reported: “The riots had a political rather than religious origin. Communal tension has been sharpened during the past few months by a propaganda campaign (conducted primarily by the leading Malay newspaper, Utusan Melayu ) accusing the PAP government in Singapore of unfair treatment of Malays there. Utusan Melayu often acts as the mouthpiece of Umno, and in particular of its extremist secretary-general Syed Jaafar Albar.
“The loss of the Malay seats in the Singapore Legislative Assembly last September to the PAP rankled, and Umno resentment was increased by the PAP intervention in the Malayan general election in April (unsuccessful though it was), and by the PAP’s continuing efforts to set up a grassroots organisation in all the main Malayan towns.”
The New Zealand Department of External Affairs concluded: “The fact remains that Umno (and ultimately Umno’s leaders) must bear the main burden of responsibility for the recent outbreak by virtue of their recourse to the excitation of Malay racial sentiment.
It appears to us that Razak and other Umno leaders did not act soon enough to curb the excesses of extremists like Jaafar Albar and we were left in even more disturbing doubt by the reaction of the federal government to the riots.”
In 1966, after the separation, Jaafar Albar and the Utusan Melayu agreed to apologise in court through their lawyers and pay for all costs.
If one looks at the modus operandi of how Umno and Utusan Melayu instigate racial riots for its own political gains since the 1960s, it has basically not changed.
Let all fair minded and peace loving Malaysians from all walks of life, race and religion, take note of this and be not misguided by Umno. Truly, Umno is one of the most evil and corrupt political parties in the world.
Looliloo: The first method for estimating the intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him - Niccolo Machiavelli.
With such dimwits and thugs as members, it is easy to understand the factory from which the Umno leaders are produced.
Continue-The-March: When racist Umno cannot or unable to defend their position, all they can do is to threaten violence. There is no more doubt who started the May 13, 1969 racial massacre.
Not Confused: This shows just how mindless this nation of Malays has become. They form 66 percent of the population but are led by the nose by their so-called "leaders" and "defenders of the race".
The poor Malays are portrayed as weak, confused and it is felt that the only way to keep them in line and unified is to threaten another May 13. How banal and pathetic.
Voice: If PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) really do their work without fear and favour, some of the hooligan in this rally are already in the lock-up long time ago.
I do not have a glimpse of hope that the PDRM will take action this time around even though it was clear to us sedition has been committed.
They will not take action as Umno need this type of people to stir up tension and to scare their opponents as well as the people.
Jesse: How come this sort of threat is not seditious and the rally itself not illegal? This is a prime example of selective persecution by police and attorney-general just because it is Umno that is involved.
Since when has it been a matter of pride to threaten May 13? Umno Baru led by clueless leaders is allowing the country down the slippery slope of a failed democracy dominated by race and religious issues.
Indeed, what can one expect of a Malay first and Malaysian second attitude.
Awakened: I thought Bubuk Machang state representative Lee Khai Loon is from PKR not DAP. So why blame DAP?
The kangkung controversy was fueled by Malaysians of all races including Umno, PAS and members from all other parties. Why did the protesters singled out DAP? And what has the kangkung comment to do with May 13?
Changeagent: Most of the people at the rally are usual suspects in Umno's racially-charged rallies in Penang. The good news is that their numbers never amount to more than a few hundred morons.
The majority of Malays in Penang however understand that the real issue at hand isn't about kangkung, but the endemic corruption in the federal government, inequitable distribution of wealth that has only enriched a select few super cronies, increasing costs of living...
Jiminy Qrikert: Umno truly believes stirring up racial issues and focusing Malay hatred against the Chinese is the tried and tested formula in retaining its political power and iron-grip on the psyche of Malays.
From May 13 to scare Malays in the last two GEs to Utusan Malaysia’s infamous ' apa lagi mahu ' to this escalation of the threat with ' mau lagi kah ?', Umno succeeds every time in herding sufficient numbers of Malays into their corral to survive. And it has a good five years to whip these Malays into a frenzy.
Rayte: This is another example of the desperate Umno creating racial hatred and fear to get support from the ignorant people. This country is heading for disaster as long as Umno is in power.
Freethinker: Did Umno give a 10-day notice to the police for public assembly? If no, why is there no arrest made? Bringing up May 13 is an act of intimidation. Why is there no one arrested for sedition?
Does it mean that it's okay for Umno to hurl the May 13 threat?
Armageddon: The rakyat had been demonstrating against price increase and Umno chose to counter demonstrate but with out-of-line objective - it being anti-DAP and anti-Chinese.
Whether they like it or not, DAP is here to stay. The worst thing about the Umno demo is they assume they are talking on behalf of all Malay Malaysians. I am a Malay and do not share Umno's belief.
Imraz Ikhbal: Should ever another May 13 tragedy were to erupt, I am one Malay Muslim who shall blame it squarely on Umno and all other ultra bigots of its like for their foul mouth and inflammatory provocation.
If ever a May 13 face-off were to recur, Umno will be surprised that it will no longer be between Malays and Chinese, it will instead be between bigots from their own fold against a united rakyat consisting of Malays, Chinese, Indians and every other race who detest racism and bigotry.
So Umno is admitting it started May 13 riot
