Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said he has not been officially informed about the situation in Selangor.

The DAP secretary-general said PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim has yet to inform him about it.

"This is something new to me. I have not been informed about the developments in Selangor, whether about the by-election in Kajang or Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim’s resignation," he said at a press conference today.

Asked if Selangor DAP has updated him about the crisis in the state, Lim stopped for while, then maintained that Anwar has yet to inform him about it.

Lim also said what he thought or felt about the matter was not important.

"I have my own thoughts and feelings about this whole episode but it is not important as my job now is to ensure public order in Penang," he added.

BN leaders cry foul

Penang BN leaders have expressed their disgust over the Selangor imbroglio.

"It's not about who is contesting in the by election. It's an abuse of the process of democracy to resolve an internal power struggle," said state Gerakan chief Teng Chang Yeow.

He said there was no political crisis in Selangor, but there is one in Selangor PKR.

He added that a new law should be enacted to prohibit such resignations to resolve internal power struggles.

Teng stressed that the rakyat barely gave PKR and Pakatan the mandate to rule Selangor six months ago during the May 5 general election.

"Now, they are forced to decide again and this time round, not only their representative for Kajang but probably a change in the post of menteri besar," he added.

    

"Voters of Kajang have now been made use of  to resolve the power struggle of PKR and Pakatan," he stressed.

Teng said it would be a waste of public funds to appease a strong faction in PKR and Pakatan by calling for a by-election with the ultimate aim of solving a power struggle in PKR.

He proposed a new law to be put in place to bar elected representatives from contesting for life if he or she resigns for such a purpose in a short period after the general election.

Meanwhile, state Umno liason chief Zainal Abidin Osman said he has received feedback from voters in Permatang Pauh that they are disappointed that Anwar will contest in Kajang.

"If Anwar wins, he would have to look after two constituencies and the rakyat would suffer. It is as if the democracy is a game to be played for their own political plans," he added.
