BN will highlight Anwar Ibrahim's alleged sexual issues to expose voters to "the truth" about the opposition leader in the lead up to the Kajang by-election.

Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan said that voters are being “deceived” as Anwar, who is Pakatan Rakyat’s candidate in the coming polls, is giving them the perception that he is free from any such cases.

"His sodomy case with (his former aide) Mohd Saiful (Bukhari Azlan) and his video case ... so the Kajang voters must be told about these.

"The perception that he has already been acquitted is not verified by the appellate court and the Federal court.

"There is nothing wrong for us to talk about Anwar Ibrahim ( left ) so that Kajang voters can pick someone who is really suitable to be their assemblyperson," he said.

The hearing of the prosecution's appeal over Anwar's acquittal will be heard on Feb 12 and 13 while Anwar's appeal to remove Muhammad Shafee Abdullah from leading the prosecution will be heard on Feb 11 at the Federal Court.

On the video allegation, Ahmad is believed to have referred to the 'Datuk T' video shown to several journalists in March 2011. Anwar has already denied it was him in it.

Ahmad said the people should know and think carefully, as they cannot regard Anwar as totally absolved and acquitted.

This, he said were among the things he stressed during the Umno closed-door briefing today in a Kajang Hotel.

Abuse of power

Ahmad said he also reminded the participants that Anwar had been found guilty in 1998 for abuse of power when he was deputy prime minister, for directing the special branch to have Azizan Abu Bakar change his statutory declaration.

"Former special branch director Mohd Said Awang are among the names whom I remember, as information chief, who had testified in the case.

"This has to be highlighted to the people so they would understand (the conviction)," he said.

Describing Anwar as causing a lot of of hardship at the people's expense, Ahmad said PKR forced such political stunt when Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail ( left ) resigned as Permatang Pauh MP in 2008.

The party also made the Penanti seat vacant in 2009 when Penang deputy chief minister Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin was forced to resign.

Ahmad said Umno is ashamed that Anwar, who is still facing the sodomy II appeal, is the PKR candidate as if there were no others to choose from.

During today's briefing, Ahmad said that the Umno's data shows that BN's chances of recapturing Kajang are quite good.

The constituency was traditionally a MCA stronghold before it was won by the opposition in 2008.
