'Malaysia responsible but lacks capability'

MH370 The Malaysian government has faced heavy criticism on its contradictory statements on the missing MH370 but China’s ambassador to Malaysia, Huang Hui Kang, has defended it, saying it’s a “responsible government”.

However, he noted that the government lacked the capability and experience to handle an incident of this nature.

Speaking at a media briefing at the embassy today, Huang added that this was a rare event in the history of aviation, thus leading to much speculation and many rumours.

“Secondly, the Malaysian government lacks the capability and experience to handle this missing MAS flight incident,” he said.

However, he defended Malaysian government, saying that the country had never faced such an incident after almost 60 years of independence.

He added that Malaysia is still a developing country and it is short of technologies and capabilities to handle such issues compare to the United States and other Western countries.

“But I would like to say that the Malaysian government has been fully committed in handling this matter. From their prime minister, minister, department of civil aviation to relevant staff members are trying their level best and working hard,” he said.

‘Do not over-criticise’

Thus, he asked the media to evaluate this issue objectively, telling them, “Do not over-criticise”.

Huang also denied that Malaysia and China are having miscommunications, but had cooperated very well in this matter, judging from the fact that Malaysia is willing to share its radar data with China.

However, he stressed that there was much information which cannot be revealed as the investigation was on-going.

“That is why, the media keep querying the Malaysian authorities since March 8, hoping for them to feed more information, but the Malaysian side kept stressing that they can only provide verified information.

“I think this is how a responsible government should act,” he added.

Huang said that the top leadership of both Malaysia and China are keeping in close contact all the while and he himself had been invited to attend several meeting by the government.

He also refuted the media reports claiming that the family member of the Chinese passengers who had been flown all the way from China to Kuala Lumpur, are not being well taken care of.

Instead, he stressed that the family members are being well taken care of and have the freedom to travel anywhere they wished.
