Gov't funds for Perkasa - just how much is a little?

YOURSAY ‘Giving a grant to Perkasa for a unity event is adding insult to injury.’

Gov't admits giving Perkasa 'a little allocation'

Lamborghini: An organisation that is a real threat to national unity is given "a little allocation to organise a seminar on unity"? This must the sickest joke of the year.

On what basis has the government given the belligerent right-wing racist Perkasa "a little allocation"?

As a taxpayer, I am totally disgusted that part of my hard-earned money goes to help Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa to promote hatred and hurl insults at Christians and other minorities.

Now the full hypocrisy of the BN, and especially its 1Malaysia slogan, is exposed.

Tholu: On Dec 25, 2013, Perkasa secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali was quoted saying, “We don’t deny that agencies such as the National Security Council, National Civics Bureau and Special Affairs Department had helped a selected number of Perkasa programmes.”

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim said "a little allocation" was set aside to help the NGO to organise a seminar on unity.

Now, was it a one-off allocation or is a regular contribution by the government? Who is the liar here - Shahidan (the government) or Perkasa (a racist NGO)?

Quigonbond: Like the word "little" is going to make a difference. Even a few tens of thousands of ringgit is enough for Perkasa to organise a big meeting to spew more venom into an artificial crisis of racial and religious tension in this country.

That tens of thousands of ringgit is enough to pay for transportation and meals so that they can protest and intimidate in large numbers. And these are taxpayers’ money.

MOF (Ministry of Finance) can be sued for abuse of authority and negligent misallocation of government funds.

Malaccan: I agree with other Malaysiakini commenters here, just how much is a little? With this government, accountability and transparency is near zero.

Permata, which is not a ministry or agency, was allocated a little too, only RM100 million, if I am not mistaken. Giving a grant to Perkasa for a unity event is adding insult to injury.

Perkasa is hell-bent on destroying unity in the country. It is promoting hatred and racism. Please don't use the lie that Perkasa is working towards Malay unity. It is working towards Malay enslavement to Umno.

Cry, My Beloved Country: "A little allocation" was set aside to help the NGO to organise a seminar on unity. Perkasa and unity - perhaps English words mean something quite different to the BN government and its leaders. Stupendous!

Qishiren: You have to take your hats off to these goons. They are telling you in your face, "Yes, I know you don't believe what I am doing but I am doing it anyway and I know there is nothing you can do about it. Hah!"

Giving money to Perkasa to organise a unity seminar? How stupid can they get?

Malaysian Born: How on earth can they justify giving Perkasa money to organise anything to do with unity.

Who does this joker think he is kidding? This is taxpayers’ funds, there should be an investigation into abuse of power in this case as this is literally throwing away our money.

Gross incompetence could be an explanation, but this is like giving money to the Ku Klux Klan to do a programme on racial unity. There are limits to stupidity.

Oriole: So now it's official. A vote for BN is a vote for racism and ‘ketuanan’ (supremacy) politics. Malaysians must demand for details of this allocation and the manner in which it was allocated.

How is it that a group that has threatened other religions and races eligible for this allocation? Who signed off on this allocation that is taxpayers’ money - the very same taxpayers that this rabid lot has chosen to insult and threaten regularly!

Awakened: The funding of Perkasa by the BN government is a subtle way of Umno killing MCA, MIC and Gerakan. It was Umno doing which kill off the support of Chinese and Indian Malaysians for the three parties.

Today, these three parties were weakened so much by Umno that they have to get support from Umno Malays in order to survive.

I just heard the news that an ex-cop asked the Malays to unite in the Kajang by-election by supporting MCA candidate Chew Mei Fun so that Malays will continue to have power.

See how contradicting the message from him that "Malays must unite" by supporting a Chinese candidate.

Oh Ya?: In other countries, the ruling regime would have collapsed but of course in Bolehland this won't happen as the ruling elite takes it that it is their birthright to bash other races and religions with impunity, and even using taxpayers’ money to do so.

Awang Top: We want the allocation to Perkasa to be withdrawn; it’s our money. We don't want the racists to use our money.

Swipenter: The Umno Baru government now openly admits to indulging in state-sponsored fascism, which has been an open secret.

They just give lip service to national unity. They are devious enough to blame the non-Malays for not being interested in national unity, which in reality they are the ones who have been very focused in the practice of divide-and-rule principle in Bolehland and connive with the extremism advocated by right-wing Malay NGOs.

All these extreme Malay NGOs have to do to act with impunity is to hide behind the 3Rs (religion, race and royalty) and they can literally get away with preaching violence and extremism against the ‘pendatangs’.

Anon1: Please find out how much this allocation was. Next, consider writing officially to MCA, MIC and the rest of the group and inquire whether they were aware of this and now that they are aware, what is their opinion on such allocation.

We can already guess MCA’s answer: "It is wrong to allocate money to Perkasa, but there's no need for anybody to apologise or query such an allocation."

Supercession: But Shahidan, isn't giving our money to Perkasa to organise a seminar on unity akin to giving money to vampires to organise a forum against drinking blood?
