Apart from using the interviews with the foreign media to tarnish the government, Anwar Ibrahim is unable to provide any information regarding the search-and-rescue mission for MH370, said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

Therefore, the youth and sports minister called on the opposition leader not to gloat about international news organisations making a beeline to get his views on the matter.

“He (Anwar) cannot answer the technical aspects and (matters relating) to the operation,” he told reporters in Kajang.

Khairy said Anwar was exploiting the air time given to him by the foreign media to run down the government while the search-and-rescue mission is still ongoing.

“He only finds opportunities to hammer the government,” he added.

The Umno Youth chief was responding to Anwar’s remarks during a ceramah in Kajang on Thursday night.

The opposition leader claimed that he was puzzled that the foreign media wanted to interview him when he is not the prime minister.

Anwar claimed that when he quizzed them on this, the foreign journalists told him that they wanted answers regarding the incident.

The opposition leader has been critical about the government’s handling of the crisis and its reluctance to involve the opposition.
