YOURSAY ‘There was once someone called Hitler, his ideology is fascism.’

'Pendatang can't intrude, but must pay taxes'

Homesick: Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman wants all the non-Malay and non-Muslim 'pendatang' to pay taxes and also apply the hudud law to them. But he does not want the 'pendatang to have any say.

There was once someone called Hitler and he had the same idea and his ideology is called fascism.

Someone commented in Malaysiakini , “Who is running the country?” This is a very easy question to answer. My three-year-old child will tell you, everyone is running the country except Najib Abdul Razak.

Isaiah: Just take a look at the comfortable meeting room. Must be through the generosity of the pendatangs' taxes.

Anonymous_3faa: While Malaysia burns, Najib sleeps. Malaysiakini is right to give these clowns coverage as that exposes them for what they are - clowns.

What they spew is risible if not for the fact that Putrajaya endorses them, thus giving them ammunition to become more and more vitriolic in their outbursts.

David Dass: We agree that all must pay tax. We also know that if we accept hudud its application will be on all, Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

It is precisely for that reason that we object to the application of hudud. That is not interference of Islam. That is safeguarding our rights under the constitution.

This country is secular and must remain forever so. As it is, there are tensions over so many things - the building of churches and temples, the use of certain terms by Christians and perhaps others, conversion cases, etc.

The situation will get worse if we fundamentally alter the structure of our society - from secular to Islamic. For that is exactly what we will do when we allow hudud.

All our judges, our 15,000 lawyers, all supporting staff, all police officers are familiar with our law as it stands. A change to hudud will leave the country paralysed and in chaos.

Many will leave. Investment will be affected. The perception of the country as a modern Muslim country will change.

Ratbatblue: In all probability, organisations like Isma and its ilk get their funding through the government. That explains why Abdullah Zaik said that non-Malays have to pay tax. Does this mean that the Malay Muslims have an option - either to pay tax or tokens to their religious organisations?

If not for the one percent paying their tax, people like Abdullah Zaik will be out of a job since there would be no funds to assist his group.

Your patrons wish to let everybody know that the official history of Malaysia began with Parameswara (who was a Hindu, in case you are not aware). Islam came later, and if it were not for the Indians from India, this country would most likely have remained Hindu.

You have come from some other place, albeit a little earlier, and you claim sole ownership of this country.

Probably there were many non-Muslims already well settled here before your ancestors even knew there was a land called Malaya. Why do you have to be so racist and chauvinistic about this issue?

Ksn: Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar, how is the investigation progressing against Abdullah Zaik? Is it not high time to stop this man in his tracks from insulting the non-Malays citizens of this country? Where is our home minister, by the way?

Atilla: Keep your big mouth shut as you are also pendatangs. This is like the pot calling the kettle black. You should let the Orang Asli run the country, going by your argument.

Please stop spraying more venom into the air. Did the BN government pay you to do all these sabre-rattling in order to continue to hoodwink the Malays into supporting the BN? I believe most Malaysians know the truth and are rational people unlike you idiots from Isma.

Cantabrigian: If Tunku Abdul Rahman, our Bapa Kemerdekaan, were still alive today, he would definitely slap this Isma president on his face, twice.

One for his ignorance of the federal constitution and the other is for his arrogance is labelling others as 'pendatang'.

Cogito Ergo Sum: No taxation without representation. Perhaps you may have heard of this? No, it's an alien concept... and certainly not ‘halal’ as it is an American colonial saying.

Geronimo: But according to Mahathir Mohamad, 90 percent of the taxes are already paid by the non-Malays. So what is the issue here?

We should be paying only 40 percent of the tax rate and people like Abdullah Zaik, pay 60 percent, that is fairness based on the racial demography of the country. So, this man only wants to take, take, take and not give anything in return.

Hplooi: Taxes are just the tip of the iceberg. How about indirect taxation e.g. cross-subsidy for bumi-discounts in property, etc, or more grievously shut-out of public funding for higher education (ask any middle-class non-bumi family struggling with college fees for their offspring); or being shut out of business and employment opportunities in the government sector?

Truly, Malaysians especially the non-bumis are the most taxed (non) citizens in Asia.

DarthVader: It's sad to see the 1Malaysia logo. On hindsight, it is just a logo that does not represent anything at all. Colourful outside but emptiness inside.

Why is Abdullah Zaik still talking to the press? Why is he not being dragged to court like the opposition?

Stevie W: Unfortunately, there is no medication for stupidity.
