'Voting for Dyana like teh-tarik, makes you ill'

TELUK INTAN An article published on the Umno Youth website has taken a swipe at DAP and its candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.
Among others, writer Ab Jalil Becker noted how Dyana, in her speech regarding the breaking of racial and religious barrier, had used teh-tarik to drive home the point.
She said that Malaysians, irrespective of race and religion, liked teh-tarik and therefore a similar identity is needed for this nation.
"Unfortunately, what Dyana did not tell the people is that teh-tarik is one of the major causes of diabetes and heart disease.
"Perhaps without realising or on purpose, Dyana revealed that voting DAP can be fun and delicious at first, but in the long run, we must accept a slew of illnesses," read the article uploaded under the comments section.
Greenhorn as candidate
The writer also ridiculed DAP's need to field a "Malay kid" as a "tool" to cast aside the perception that it is an anti-Malay party.
He also noted that given Dyana's lack of experience and the fact that she only joined DAP in 2012, she should not have been named as the candidate.
"She helped (DAP veteran) Lim Kit Siang campaign during the last general election. She was openly introduced by Lim as his new political secretary during a DAP convention later.
"If based on achievement and political meritocracy, Dyana, who has only served as Lim’s political secretary for a year, does not deserve to be on the candidates list, let alone be picked as the candidate," he added.
However, the writer stated that DAP was desperate to convince the Malays, especially PAS members that it is a party open to Malays and Islam although its political ambitions are different.
"It is also hoped that Dyana will help reduce a backlash from Muslim voters in reaction to DAP’s strong opposition to the implementation of hudud law," he added.
Dyana would be facing BN candidate Mah Siew Keong in the May 31 by-election for the Teluk Intan parliament seat.
The seat fell vacant following the death of DAP incumbent Seah Leong Peng.
Should she win, Dyana would become DAP's third Malay MP after Zairil Khir Johari (Bayan Baru) and Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz (Raub).
