Making a mockery of 'non-proselytisation' law
YOURSAY ‘Bible in itself is no threat to any Muslim. Neither is a Bible in Malay.’
S'gor opposition supports Mais' keeping of bibles
Ruslan Bahari: There is a key issue here about what a Muslim should do. We are taught to respect other religions, and this was demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W when dealing with the Jews of Arabia.
The Bible in itself is no threat to any Muslim. Neither is a Bible written in Malay, because one cannot assume a Malay Bible is targeted at the Muslims.
The threat only arises when the Bible of any language is given to a Muslim in an attempt to influence the Muslim to convert. If this can be proven, then the Bible used in this act should be confiscated.
So again, one needs to go back to the controversy over the ‘Allah’ word. Should it really be made for exclusive use of Malaysian Muslims?
Do we have a precedent of this during the life of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W? Or any of his many companions who led Islam after his death?
Tan Kim Keong : Selangor opposition leader Mohd Shamsudin Lias is clearly exhibiting his inability to comprehend the attorney-general’s findings.
The AG said that Section 9(1)(a) of the Non-Islamic Religion (Control of Propagation Among Muslims) Enactment 1988 does not apply to the seized Bible.
Hence there is no threat. It's plain and simple as to what the AG meant, and yet Shamsudin said the state religious bodies Selangor Islamic Council (Mais) and Selangor Department of Islamic Affairs (Jais) should not return the seized copies.
This is their low intelligence reiterated and verified.
Truth Really Hurts: The PM and his merry cabinet approved the 10-point solution which allowed the import and distribution of the Bible in Malay. Yet Selangor BN supports the seizure and illegal retention of the seized (stolen) Bible.
Does it mean Selangor BN (Umno Baru, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, etc) rejects the authority and approval given by the PM and his cabinet?
It is Selangor BN vs Federal BN - now that's a sideshow worth watching. It's better than watching the World Cup. More entertaining.
MacMac: Umno is behind all the drama to win Malay support, while those ‘sissy’ component parties MCA, MIC and Gerakan are all without guts to oppose big brother Umno. For if they did, they would not get to be ministers anymore.
I salute Sarawak for keeping Umno out of their state.
Magnus: Dear MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other BN-component political party politicians, do you see how misguidedly, dangerously and messily you have been handling state political matters and crossing all sorts of important constitutional federal and state authority boundaries without seemingly having a clue to what you were doing?
I think it fair you say that it appears you have been selling out your fellow constituents and fellow citizens for cheap political profit and glory for yourselves while sending Malaysians and Malaysia down the dangerously confused and anarchic toilets of judicial and constitutional depravity.
May your constituents offer you your just desserts and kick you all out of political power when they can.
Ketuanan Rakyat: MCA, MIC, Gerakan and Sabah and Sarawak BN parties, make your stand now. It is clear Umnoputras are behind this move.
Hope: The more they talk, the worst it is. Only one word can describe these jokers, "bodoh".
First they defy the law. Second, they make a fool of themselves by directly saying Muslims in Malaysia are weak and need all sort of protection.
These people are giving Islam a bad name. I have many Muslim friends and they do not feel threatened because they know in Malaysia Islam is never under threat.
The only protection Muslims in Malaysia need are from people like these jokers.
Onyourtoes: Hey, what law and what rule are you following? The chief prosecutor of the country has just declared that there is no case against Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) and so what are you waiting for?
Why do you think this country is going to the dogs? We have trains not properly serviced but RM100 million paid . We have scanners broken down for 171 days in three years. We have GLCs (government-linked companies) that give you zero returns.
We have government projects routinely given to BN MPs and members of administration. We have RTM taking up deals amounting to hundreds of millions without contract .
And do we know what this group of nincompoops are concerned with - to keep the holy books of others which have nothing to do with them.
Look, nincompoops, this country is being run to the ground, soon there will be nothing for you fellows to fight for, not even your religion. You should ask the Iraqi, Syrians and Afghans.
Fairnsquare : This is a rebellion against the government, and the PM still has not intervened. This must stop.
