YOURSAY ‘Why is carpet businessman Deepak Jaikishan so special?’

'Letter proves minister's hand in Deepak's loan'

Shibboleth: "Contacted later, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Hasan Malek told Malaysiakini that he would issue a statement on the allegations after discussing the matter with relevant parties."

That means they are hatching a reply that says something but means actually nothing. Someone should asked, why is carpet businessman Deepak Jaikishan so special?

SultanMydin: Hasan, why the need to make a statement after discussing with the relevant authorities when you should sue Rafizi if you think your image and reputation has been tarnished.

Surely the ex-chairperson of Bank Rakyat cannot be cooking up stories if it is not true. The ball is at your feet.

Odin: Hasan's deferment is a clear indication of the veracity of the information contained in the documents in Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli's possession.

If we surmised that special treatment is given to Deepak to further ensure his silence on the matter of Altantuya Shaariibuu's murder, we would not be too far off - indeed, we might even be spot on.

Siang Malam: There is a price to be paid for keeping silence, and Deepak is a smart operator. He gets what he wants. Poor PI (private investigator) P Balasubramaniam.

Senior: What does the PM say? Any scapegoat here? I bet it will be the bank officer. What must I do or who must I know to have "special treatment" to repay my RM32 million debt over 10 years?

Bad Head: Hasan, why are you involved in the loan between Deepak and the bank? How much did you benefit from this deal? What say you?

Pemerhati: Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar said that Deepak's loan with Bank Rakyat was not only limited to RM32 million, but that he also has two more loans totaling RM215 million .

Now Umno and PM Najib Razak can claim that since party Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil’s family and Deepak have been allowed to borrow huge sums of money, Umno treats bumiputeras and non-bumiputeras fairly.

Negarawan: The stakeholders of Bank Rakyat should call for an emergency meeting as this is of grave concern involving criminal breach of trust (CBT).

A full investigation must be done to find out who are the people behind Hasan Malek.

Real Truth: Why all this noise about the huge loans to Deepak? This has been going on for the last 30 years, only now are the opposition and Malaysiakini readers demanding answers.

But eventually there will be no action as in the case of the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC).

Homesick: Real Truth, I totally disagree with you. How can you say why ‘bising bising’? This sort of corrupt practices must be exposed.

In the past, things were a little bit different. We didn't have easy access to information. Now we have the Internet, email, online portals, social media, etc, etc. So it is not so easy to cover up or be fed false information by the mainstream media.

The public, especially the rural folk, need to know how corrupt this Umno-BN regime was and still is.

Flyingeagle: Did the loan solely belong to Deepak or was it a 50:50 deal with someone else?

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Inland Revenue Board - action please.

LLKS: MACC, please investigate those ministers involved. Action must be taken - ‘tak kan’ no further action (NFA) and case closed.

Angel: Many years ago, Umno Youth and Bank Rakyat organised the Mohamad Ali-Joe Bugner fight in Kuala Lumpur.

Bank Rakyat lost RM1 million at that time. For this, the Bank Rakyat chairperson went to jail. The PM then was Abdul Razak Hussein.

But in this case, the Bank Rakyat chairperson was not reappointed because he refused to give a loan to Deepak. We will see how PM Najib Razak handles this matter.

Bank Rakyat is a cooperative bank. Only Malays can be members.

Non-Malays are charged a higher interest compared to Malays as regards to borrowing. An officer told me this many years ago. I told him to change the name to Bank Melayu, and he laughed.

Now Deepak has got an interest-free loan. What Malaysian race does Deepak belong to?
