Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar is hoping to get the scalp of another DAP leader to be jailed, disqualified and booted out of Parliament over a sedition charge, said Lim Kit Siang.

The first leader targeted was the late DAP chairperson Karpal Singh, who was convicted with sedition over his remarks regarding the Perak sultan.

Lim said he was surprised to learn that the police were coming after him with the Sedition Act.

He was also baffled as to what seditious statement he had made to warrant a police investigation against him.

His surprise was compounded since the police had been "infamously passive and notoriously inactive when there was a crescendo of seditious utterances and threats inciting racial and religious animosity".

In a sarcastic swipe, the veteran politician said that the Malaysian police was worthy of adulation for its selective actions.

"Malaysians must commend the police for having the outstanding qualities not to be found in other police forces in the world.

"Its enormous ability to turn a blind eye to flagrant criminality right in their faces when committed by certain privileged groups and an extraordinary ability to discern crime or sedition when they don't exist when  another targeted group of people is involved," he added.

Lim is being investigated over his comments during the fifth death anniversary of Teoh Beng Hock on July 16, where he said the latter was murdered and his killers are still at large.

This led the police chief to caution him against "creating something which is not true".

However, Lim asked: "How does the IGP know it is not true that Teoh had been murdered or killed?"

He recommended that Khalid read the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Teoh's case, which Lim claimed "screamed 'murder! murder! murder!' if not 'manslaughter! manslaughter! manslaughter!'"

Noting that the RCI evaded the issue in its conclusion that Teoh was driven to commit suicide by aggressive and continuous questioning by MACC officers, Lim asked: "Is there such an 'animal' as 'forced suicide' which is not homicide or murder?"

He also asked Khalid to explain why the police had not launched investigations into the MACC officers implicated in Teoh's death, whether under Sections 304 and 304A of the Penal Code or even under Section 302 for murder.

"What was a great travesty of justice was the MACC statement on the fifth anniversary of the death of Teoh that the three MACC officers implicated in his death had been cleared of indiscipline by the MACC special investigation team comprising its disciplinary board and the complaints committee," he said.
