It appears that BN is giving Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim more public support than it has ever given its own Umno-BN menteri besar in history, said PAS MP Khalid Samad.

The Shah Alam MP today noted that Umno deputy Munyiddin Yassin and BN's support towards Khalid is "clearly sincere and strong".

"The word 'unconditional' depicts a level of confidence that has never been experienced or received by Umno-BN's own menteri besar all this while," quipped Khalid in a statement on his blog.

Following up on his press conference yesterday where he questioned BN's motives for their public show of over-enthusiasm for their rival MB, the vocal PAS leader said observers would not be faulted to think it was a BN move to wrest the state back.

"This is because right now many people are predicting that BN's support towards Khalid is only an instigation purely aimed at breaking up Pakatan Rakyat.

"In the end if Pakatan breaks up, then BN has achieved its true goals, that is to dissolve the state assembly and initiate a snap election in Selangor.

"And in a situation with Pakatan parties fighting amongst themselves, then at that moment BN would have the opportunity to grab Selangor back and form a BN government in the state," said the MP.

‘BN may not opt for dissolution of assembly’

However, Khalid said that it is rather obvious now that BN may not opt for a dissolution of the state assembly.

This is because, without BN’s support, Khalid cannot say he continues to enjoy the majority in the August House, the MP added.

And if BN were to withdraw its support for the Independent MP, the state assembly would be forced to dissolve, Khalid added.

“Surely if Khalid’s leadership is not beneficial to BN, Muhyiddin would never have given his support,” Khalid said.

“Or has BN changed and wants to emphasise instead on efficiency and transparency of a state government (only in Selangor) to the extent of putting aside BN’s own interests?” Khalid mused.

“Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar, who has ambitions of becoming menteri besar, has to be sacrificed for the sake of Khalid,” he added.

But such “sincerity” from a BN politician is definitely strange and surprising, said Khalid, even for those who are not familiar with BN’s ways.

This should be seen in light of the menteri besar not sharing his power with BN yet and has said he is able to govern the state with the four state executive council members from PAS, Khalid reminded.

Khalid said such a scenario raises questions on whether the MB has had a secret deal with Umno, and is certain he cannot be toppled as BN would come to his rescue.

Questions arise as to whether the “secret deals” involved land matters, the questionable Kidex Expressway and the Langat II water plant.

“Has Khalid become an MB who is not independent but tied to these secret deals?

“Do allegations about him not being a team player and not heeding the party’s instructions also stem from these secret deals and his confidence that no matter what happens he can still hold on to the MB’s post because of BN support?” Khalid asked.

Khalid said such questions will never be answered by the key players in this Selangor drama but the answers are clear, based on their recent actions.

He said the reasons to remove Khalid has become clearer by the day, and certainly people would soon say, “No wonder PKR mooted the Kajang Move...”.
