If Hadi remains as chief, PAS is a lost cause

YOURSAY 'Pakatan’s path to Putrajaya easier if PAS has more progressive leader.'

Kit Siang warns BN may retake Kelantan

LKT : PAS under its president Abdul Hadi Awang is a lost cause. If PAS can vote Hadi out before GE14 and he is replaced by a progressive and honourable leader, the path to Putrajaya for Pakatan will be easier.

If PAS cannot remove Hadi when GE14 comes around, Pakatan, with Hadi's PAS, will be a disaster at the polling booth. This will be the conundrum which Parliament's Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim and DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang will need to get over in time for GE14.

Sad to say, but Hadi has no more credibility with the many supporters of Pakatan especially among the non-Muslim supporters.

Kilgore: "If consensus is not the basis for the Pakatan leadership council how are we going to cooperate?" he (Kit Siang) questioned.

Hadi should be made to answer that question publicly. If he disagrees with the democratic process then he doesn't belong in it.

J Ng: PAS losing ground in Kelantan is not surprising. However, PAS loss of credibility and reliability among non-Muslims and progressive Muslims is inevitable.

This situation can only be corrected if the PAS leadership is not led by clerics. The dissenting and more progressive PAS leaders within the party are not enough to assure getting support from this group of voters.

DAP and even PKR will not be credible enough to canvas votes for PAS candidates given the present PAS leadership.

Without any drastic change in PAS leadership, its presence in Pakatan is more of a liability. DAP and PKR should not wait for too long to review the coalition with PAS. As a coalition partner, whatever PAS loses will be a gain to Umno and BN.

BRUCHAGA: Kit Siang, let Kelantan fall to BN. Only then will the rest in PAS know they have a leader (Hadi) who is incompetent.

Mushiro: Very important and timely advice by the seasoned Kit Siang. PKR parties must consolidate their positions fast after the fractious MB issue. A task force as suggested by Kit Siang should help.

The new MB has to prove quickly he is clean, efficient and trustworthy and deliver the promises made in the Pakatan manifesto.

Hbasill: This very well may happen. But more importantly, Kit Siang must also be aware that DAP may suffer the same fate in Penang if it remains in the coalition with PAS as a partner.

My gut feeling is DAP will suffer come GE14 if it remains in Pakatan with PAS. Let us wait and see. Damage control won’t work if PAS remains in Pakatan. Watch out Kit Siang and DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng.

Dappy: With Hadi at the helm of PAS, non-Malays will no longer back PAS as Hadi has been a letdown too many times. Only a moderate and principled new PAS can regain the trust of the non-Malays.

SSDhaliwal: PAS losing Kelantan is a foregone conclusion. The people there are plain fed up with the same old religious rhetoric and religious governance that is still plied by PAS.

The Kelantanese are fed of this and want better economic prospects which are being sidelined by caveman mentality of Hadi. The writing is on the wall when PAS lost Terengganu and Kedah.

That just shows the frustration of the people who have no choice but to vote for the infamous BN. PAS needs to be taught a lesson in humility and only a loss of Kelantan will send this message and hopefully to the eviction of Hadi.

The hope is for PAS deputy president Mat Sabu and his like to take over PAS with a focus on righteous development and fair governance for all. Let’s face it; even Muslims are getting fed up with PAS everywhere.

Caesar: Hadi and his gang might be happy to hand over Kelantan to BN, as they were ready to form a unity government with Umno in Selangor. Before next GE, PAS members must make sure Hadi and gang is history.

Rex: This will be a blessing for the people in Kelantan. PAS has not lifted the standard of living there. It deserves to be rejected by the people of Kelantan.

Appum: After the Selangor fiasco, BN knows it doesn't need PAS anymore.

The Analyser: Like true Malaysians, you've always have to find someone to blame rather than acknowledge that the problem might be you. If it's not Umno then it's MCA, and now your latest whipping boys are MB Khalid Ibrahim and PAS.

If you can think back a few months, you'll remember one was the Pakatan dream MB and the other the saviour of the nation. For all your talk about supremos and charismatic leaders, to an outside observer, the only difference between Umno and Pakatan are the faces involved.

Pakatan once had the support and opportunity to offer Malaysia a real future; instead all they have done is offer more of the same.

Fair&Just: Hadi, the Trojan horse, had lost Terengganu and Kedah and if still around, will also lose Kelantan. Better that Pakatan kick out PAS and start afresh, and synergise to strengthen its chances of winning at future polls.

War Child: I will not be surprised if Kelantan falls back to BN or Umno Baru without PAS spiritual adviser Nik Aziz Nik Mat around. Current PAS president Hadi is a big liability to his party.

Anonymous #70881335: Kit Siang, BN will take back Kelantan if PAS is still stuck in its old rut. Without Nik Aziz, due to his personal popularity, PAS has zero chance.

Keturunan Malaysia: On the ground the 4.5 percent is shrinking slowly and surely by the day. Believe me. However, it will be slower for rural Malays to come to terms with DAP. Most of the disappointed voters and those who are getting smarter, will either turn to Umno or PKR depending on the area. Sad, after 30 plus years of banking my hopes on PAS to replace Umno.

Hank Marvin: What Kit Siang said is correct. Indeed Kelantan is slipping slowly towards Umno. But MB Ahmad Yaakob is sleeping and his deputy Nik Amar who is actually running the show, belongs to the Hadi faction.

They are giving Umno space to move around. Even in Kedah, things are not getting better. The root of all this is Hadi Awang and the problem is PAS does not want to admit this.

Keturunan Malaysia: I shall go one step further to say that I, my family, most of my relatives my friends cutting across all races and religions, will never vote for PAS, with the clear exception of selected PAS progressive and moderate persons, so long as Hadi remains PAS president.

Wira: Uncle Lim. I hope PAS will use common sense and see their own folly. With a 4.5 percent Malay swing to Umno, PAS is no longer a party to be reckon with by Umno. What unity government with Umno is PAS talking about?

Victor Johan: To oust the National Front government, there has to be a strong and formidable People’s Front, a Barisan Rakyat, to undertake the true democratic process to do the job. Get cracking with this endeavour.

Reach out to the masses, urban and rural. Don't waste any more time on forums. Ensure a peaceful reformation process to just do it.

Fair Play: Kit Siang, so be it. When PAS loses control of Kelantan, their power and more importantly their ego would be reduced considerably.

Maybe they might be more humble and honorable towards their political partners in future. I also think the biggest casualty might be the 'hero' himself, Hadi Awang.

Interested bystander: The Kelantanese would be far better off under BN than PAS. They would be much freer.
