Adam Adli, KJ snubbing you means you've arrived

YOURSAY 'KJ wants to be special but he can never ethically be the person you are.'

Join Umno? Thanks but no thanks, Adam tells KJ

Anonymous #20513663: This is called 'carrot and stick'. The more prominent one becomes in civil society or the 'opposition', the bigger the post/carrot which you will be offered. And at the same time, you will be 'beaten' with the stick (Sedition Act).

Not many may remember that Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi were both arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) in the past.

After some time, they 'changed sides'. Let's see how long student activist Adam Adli Abdul Hamid holds out. Not many can resist this kind of 'carrot and stick' treatment. Those who able to resist are those who have principles and can stand suffering.

Ferdtan : Adam Adli, keep up the struggle. You are a national figure. You have arrived. You see, with your presence at the meet Sports and Youth Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) was much honoured; you were singularly pointed out, mind you, just for a mere student activist.

Well done, Adam. Don’t forget to study hard for your law degree; in prison if it comes to that. You have what it takes to be our future leader.

Tulan : I smiled - good answer from a bright young man.

P Dev Anand Pillai : Adam Adli has shown the chief galvaniser of youth support here that having an independent mind which is able to think is what that is most important as opposed to being led like herds of sheep and kept within an approved mind mould. Syabas, Adam!

Kangkung : Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin forgot to inform you that the acceptance of the Umno membership comes with fame, posts, unknown wealth and immunity from all charges as one is above all laws.

Anticonmen : Adam, just join Umno and become rich and comfortable. Why fight for the people's rights and be poor? You have an invitation from the Ali Baba and his band. So many of us do not get such an invitation.

Pemerhati : The 300 who cheered Khairy were most probably from the 47 percent of the electorate that voted for BN and Umno, while Adam Adli almost certainly belongs to the majority group of 52 percent that voted for Pakatan.

In Malaysia there is a struggle going on between the minority of entrenched Umno thieves who allegedly steal the people’s money by the billions and the majority of people who are trying to remove the Umno thieves.

The Umno thieves remain in power illegitimately through rigged and fraudulent elections and they are lead by people like Najib Abdul Razak, Khairy, etc. They are opposed by people like Adam Adli, Rafizi Ramli, etc., who are trying to get rid of the thieves.

Boonpou : Adam, right on. You have no idea how jealous KJ is of you. KJ wishes he could be you but he can't. KJ wants to be special but he can never ethically be the person you are. Of course, being on the side of the ruling regime, perhaps to prove a personal family point, he has access to the loudest ghetto buster. Regardless, it is still only a ghetto "buster".

I am not saying KJ is not a smart guy. I am only saying he hasn't found his ethical and moral platforms. Knowing slightly (not that I am slightly or even remotely interested about this guy) about KJ’s personal biography, it is kind of understandable the road he is taking. One does not need to be a psychologist to pity him, who after all is suffering from some really serious melodramatic trauma.

JustAMalaysian : Age-wise Adam Adli could be my grandson but he has my respect for his guts, bravery, courage, boldness, gumption and what have you to fight for the masses and to fight for justice. Long live Adam!

Isana : 'We don't want radicals like Adam' but still want to hand him Umno's registration form. What type of doublespeak, is this? All Umno leaders speak with forked tongues and Khairy is part of this unprincipled lot.

Peacemaker : KJ, it is ungentlemanly of you to hit him from behind. Instead of urging him to join Umno Youth, engage with him, make effort to understand his struggles and his objectives. The youth want space of freedom.

StopMonkeying : Bother Adam Adli, we fully respect your integrity and honour and your stand and belief. You can lift your head high in spite of all the oppression and persecution. God is on your side. Only continue to be bold and courageous.

Dont just talk : Do not be a hypocrite, Khairy. When you realised that Adam was one of the Malay youths attending Umno Youth’s Akademi Kepimpinan Kapten Hussein (Akhi) event, you were proud of yourself. when Adam left mid-way, you felt snubbed and humiliated.

Instead of using the soft approach to convert Adam's misgivings about Umno Baru and out of spite, you said, we don't want radical leaders like Adam Adil. Most of the Malay youth would jump at the opportunity to know and shake your hands, Khairy, but not a principled person like Adam Adil. As far as Adam Adil is concerned, you can keep the form and shaft it up your... you know where.

Odysseus : KJ, with you in the cabinet and allowing the sedition law to be abuse, do you think any right-thinking youth will join any of the BN parties? You are setting all the wrong examples for the youth. Kudos to Adam for snubbing you.

Fateh : Adam, if you join Umno, maybe all your court cases will be considered null and void

Kangkong Mahal : Khairy, just because you sold your soul to Umno, it does not mean that others can be easily bought. You have the impression that youths can be easily bought with Umno's dirty money but unfortunately not everyone wants your dirty money.

Shanandoah : This KJ doesn't know the damage he is doing to Malaysians. What does Umno Baru stand for - racism and religious bigotry?

It’s he Malays who support him who will suffer in the end. The Umno Baru-led government is already beyond redemption. Malaysians are waiting to replace them in the next round of elections.

Appum : KJ: Don't be like Adam! Adam: Don't be like KJ!

Malaytoo : Khairy, you are nowhere near Adam in most aspects except one. He is definitely way below you in terms of wealth.

NuckinFuts : KJ said, "Jump!", and the participants asked, "How high?". As for Adam, he just left. That's self-respect!
