So freedom fighters like Mandela are nutcases?

YOURSAY 'Is the psychologist’s comment objective or tainted with religious beliefs?'

Dog event folk 'crave attention', says psychologist

Vijay47: Very true, Rosmi Ismail and Muhammad Muhsin, there is this innate human longing among the mediocre for undue recognition, acceptance, and admiration.

Often it is manifested in the creation of controversies centred on behavioural patterns that have been long established and practised.

This is particularly prevalent among human species, including half-breeds, lacking in self-esteem and who acknowledge that their only basis of being tolerated is feral might, especially when this is accompanied by abysmal lack of minimal intelligence.

These extraversion tendencies indeed propel victims in their hierarchy of needs to perpetually adopting stands that invite public disbelief and ridicule.

Studies show such urges to afflict individuals professing qualifications of dubious origin and merit, leading them towards indulging into conduct defined by Aristotle as "jumpus onto bandwagonus".

Not surprisingly, studies have also revealed that dog lovers and hobs consumers to be spared these ailments.

Proarte: What is shocking is that Malay education has sunk to such a low level that low IQ people are put in positions of authority and influence.

These psychiatrists/psychologists are an insult to their profession. The Malaysian Psychology Association (PSIM) must have no standing at all in the world of psychology if they can elect such a donkey to be its president.

His nonsensical uttering would even embarrass an uneducated drain sweeper. Dr Muhsin of Universiti Malaya is clear proof that the education system has failed the Malays as academic staff like him are of such low calibre. If idiots are teaching students in a supposedly premier university in Malaysia, then God help us.

Of all people, psychologists and psychiatrists should know that interaction with animals is a wholesome and therapeutic activity. Research has shown that pet owners tend to live longer and have fewer psychological problems.

If petting a cat is perfectly acceptable, then what can be the problem with petting a dog?

Gen2: Seriously, the members of the Malaysian Psychology Association need to call an EGM (extraordinary general meeting) to decide whether their president is fit for the job.

He is implying that all the people doing outstanding charity work and standing up against narrow-mindedness are attention seekers.

So all freedom marchers including Nelson Mandela are nut cases. People who are willing to die to uphold the rights of others are suicide candidates. I guaranteed this man is a product of a local university.

YUNoAnon: Seriously? Is the human psyche so warped that you'd really think people are that starved of attention that they'd go through all the trouble to organise such events?

People hold events for various reasons. But to judge them as being "in dire need of attention and recognition from society" is a very shallow perception.

So are TV3's Jom Heboh events a result of such people too? What about the K-pop event held last year at Putrajaya? You shame your profession and colleagues.

Tan Kim Keong: Are these doctors talking about psychology from the perspective of social science or talking through their doctrinal religious beliefs? Is their comments objective or tainted with their religious beliefs?

Fair Play: Rozmi, you are the president of PSIM. But I doubt you really understood the true calling of your profession. Besides what do you really know about the Asian culture? And what is the definition of the Asian culture specifically?

Now who is really seeking attention? Certainly not these dog lovers because in the long association between mankind and the dog, the dog has proven time and again it is man's best friend.

In fact those seeking recognition are those who are mentally deficient to the extent they see a ghost and their own shadow even in broad daylight.

And I daresay that dogs are even cleaner than mankind, at least in their mindset and friendship with humans.

Tomkurus: A psychiatrist is a medical doctor with added post-graduate training and qualifications in psychiatry.

A psychologist is not a medical doctor and after a basic degree in psychology, one needs to take up a Masters in Clinical Psychology for one to be relevant in the field, working closely with psychiatrists.

Beware of non-clinical psychologists with a dubious basic degree in psychology or some credits in basic psychology calling themselves psychologists.

Next time you come across a psychologist ask him or her if he/she is a "clinical" psychologist who is still not a doctor as opposed to a psychiatrist. It is amazing how many Malaysians still cannot tell the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist.

Headhunter: People who like to make press statements are the ones who really crave attention, especially when it's nothing to do with them. They really do need to have their heads examined.

The beauty of it is that today, even a simpleton can spot a fake from a real professional, and I don't mean just paper qualifications.

Anonymous_1372130686: After the daily dosage of suffocating racists and extremists voices, the so-called ‘I want to touch a dog’ event was actually a breath of fresh air.

It was refreshing to see Muslims and non-Muslims mingling in the park. May be some got carried away hugging the dogs, but overall it provides a change of scenario.

Unfortunately, after the dogs have long stopped barking, the human beings are still barking about the event.
