Perhaps gov't should move Esszone to KL

YOURSAY 'Shahidan Kassim has just confirmed that KL is dangerous place.'

Esszone safer than Kuala Lumpur, claims minister

Hank Marvin: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim has a knack of making funny and illogical statements, including this one.

If the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) is really safer than Kuala Lumpur, then why waste money putting so much effort to shore up the security apparatus there?

Adsertor: Despite the numerous kidnappings in Esszone, eastern Sabah is still safer than KL? This is an acknowledgement of the failure of the government in crime prevention in KL.

CiViC: I can't help laughing but at the same time worried about the kind of intelligence our so-called 'ministers' have. This statement is like slapping one's own face, but not just with his palms but also his foot, that thereafter is stuffed inside his mouth.

How stupid it is to make such a statement, implying KL is not safe even compared to Esszone where people had been kidnapped and killed, and a curfew enforced on ordinary citizens.

Seriously, why can't they just keep their mouth shut and hide their stupidity instead?

2Kali5: Where is Shahidan’s sense of logic? More security forces in eastern Sabah indicates the area is dangerous, so the need for it. KL is safer, so there is no need for the presence of army personnel.

BH Yap: Shahidan should move his office and residence to Esszone and try to around the area without police protection. After a year, perhaps he would be more qualified to make such a statement.

It's a known fact that armchair ministers often make stupid claims such as this.

Odysseus: I won't say Shahidan is stupid, but he is definitely saying his colleague, the home minister, is failing in his job to make Malaysia a safer place to stay. Thank you for your honesty.

Chong Ngok Jee : Please send Esszone security forces to KL so we can enjoy the same level of safety.

BN lawmaker wants social media offenders caned

Ipohcrite: Ahmad Lai Bujang (BN-Sibuti) comes across as a sycophantic politician eager to please his political masters.

Instead of training his guns on so-called social media offenders, he should focus on meting out harsh punishment for the wrongdoer in the civil service responsible for looting the government's coffers, as reported in the auditor-general's reports year in year out.

Tholu: I can't imagine that our Parliament have people who let irrational emotions get the better of them and propose laws that only serve to satiate their own vengeance against their dissenters. What would they propose next?

Cane whistleblowers of corruption and abuse of power by the authorities? Joseph Kurup is a classic example of Malaysian ministers who are Umno sycophants, who are not bold enough to state the absurdity and impracticability of such proposals.

They instead, respond to such ludicrous and preposterous proposals by simply stating that "his department did not have the legal power to punish offenders."

Anyway hasn't the government thought a few notches higher than these idiotic parliamentarians and is actually working on a solution that would not produce such "offenders" altogether?

Isn't it instead actually mulling to shut down the social media such as Facebook and online news portals in Malaysia in an attempt to deprive dissenters to make adverse (read true) comments about the government?

Idon'tlikekangkung: I am all for it if we can also have the death penalty for those who rob the country and if we can have a really fair, just and transparent judiciary.

The moment any one of these BN fellows are found to be guilty, cane the day lights out of them.

Fair&Just: Yes, they should also start the caning for all those civil servant heads and ministers responsible for every department for the leakages and wastage every year in the auditor-general's annual report.

Peacemaker: Also slotted for caning are those who spew racism, religious bigotry, lie, live off sweetheart deals, who overinflate contracts and those involved in murders for which no murderers have been found guilty to date.

P.Dev Anand Pillai: This is why we need a strong opposition. See what happens when absolute power is given to a coalition that knows nothing else than to respond with violence.

With these kinds of suggestions coming from members of parliament whom the gullible keep electing, what creativity and ability can we expect from our young?

Will the rich, powerful and the connected be spared the rod for the nonsense that they do in the social media? What about the porn that streams in like equatorial falling rain?

Will the watchers who happened to be a segment of moonlighting civil servants be caned as well?  Come on MPs, is that all you can muster in your arguments?

Martha: As the saying goes, before you suggest anything, look at yourselves in the mirror first.
