‘No’ to RM200k but why take the car, Shamsudin?

YOURSAY ‘This clearly shows he is taking care of himself first and the rest later.’

'Insulted' BN reps reject RM200k allocation

Worried Sick: Selangor Opposition Leader Shamsudin Lias is the mother of all hypocrites - he wants the car but not the given allocation which will benefit the rakyat. Maybe he wants to use the car to take his constituents for a ride every weekend.

I suggest that the rejected annual RM2.4 million be given to Pakatan Rakyat offices in the constituencies held by BN so that there will be development in these places. Something like what BN is doing to the Kelantan folk vis-a-vis federal aid.

NewMalaysia: The allocation is for the people of Selangor in their respective constituencies, not for themselves.

If they are for the people, they should have taken the allocation and spent it on the people’s welfare and reject their own salary. How to be insulted when the money is not for them but the people in their constituencies?

And how to justify this is justice when the opposition leader is keeping his official car which doesn't benefit the people at all? RM200,000 is not a small amount especially for those BN-held constituencies which are mostly in the rural areas with less population.

If you compare that to those constituencies in the urban areas mostly held by Pakatan assemblypersons which have a few times more population than those in rural area, RM700,000 will work out to be lesser if you were to calculate based on average per person benefitting from the allocations.

Odysseus: This clearly shows Shamsudin is taking care of himself first and the rest later. It also shows RM200,000 is not enough for him and his cronies.

Sa Tombs: Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, let the BN assemblypersons fork out their own money. After all, BN is loaded with corruption money and it is about time the Selangorians got it back.

What is puzzling is the acceptance of the car. Maybe its parts are going to be canibalised and used on other cars (as happened in another BN-held state some time ago).

Be that as it may, let the Pakatan reps in those BN-held constituencies utilise the funds for the people. This way we know that Pakatan cares for those in BN-held constituencies as well.

Anonymous_4196: The allocation should be the same regardless of political divide. The fund should be use to help the rakyat. Don't victimise the rakyat, like the way BN is doing.

Set up a body to monitor the usage of the fund and make sure all state assembly representatives are accountable on how they use the fund.

Multi Racial: The opposition representatives are not treated as well in BN states. Indeed, there are no allocations for the opposition assemblypersons. Take it and help your constituencies.

Ferdtan: Keep the allocations intact for the opposition whether they want them or not; so as to put on record that the assembly had passed such act.

This is to shame the federal BN government that did not deem it necessary to allocate even a sen to the opposition parliamentarians for their constituencies.

It is good start that BN assemblypersons were allocated RM200,000 as compared to Pakatan’s RM700,000.

Only when BN at federal level follows suit by giving out such allocations to all MPs regardless of politics, then Selangor can think of making equal annual allocation to all.

Well Thats Fantastic: The amount should really be equal to all assemblypersons, however it seems wrong that BN seems to be expecting Pakatan to lead the way in this. They should just accept the amount with a formal complaint that it should be the same for all.

It’s very self-centred to reject this yet accept the car. Of course, it could be that the BN leaders are scared to take it because they can't abuse it like they can with their boss and will end up in court.

Mosquitobrain: The BN’s only lifeline in Selangor has been cut off by these 12 assemblypersons.

They've rejected the RM200,000 allocation, saying it is an insult to them, but they are willing to take the car. The BN mentality ‘mati-mati’ cannot change. Self-interest always come first.

Any allocation, no matter how small or big, is meant for development in their respective constituencies. By rejecting it outright, there will be no money for development. Then how to expect the people in Selangor to support BN in the 14th general election (GE14)?

Sali Tambap: It is just pride in not wanting to accept the RM200,000. Umno-BN cannot imagine that they should receive money from the Pakatan government and when they were offered, they just could not deal with it.

Actually RM200,000 is a small amount by their standard; they can always get a much bigger amount from their parent party.

Mob1900: Probably because these BN reps has never spend a single sen for development in their respective constituencies, hence when there is a RM200,000 allocation available, they're dumbfounded on how to deal with it.

Clearwater: BN's Shamsudin seems to harbour a deep sense of injustice but utterly no personal shame.

He should have done the opposite, that is, accept the RM200,000 allocation for the constituents under protest but reject the official car for personal use. Now he has no moral ground to stand on. He insulted himself.

Fair Play: Shamsudin, look at it this way. Beggars can't be choosers. If you see it as a bottle that is 28 percent full (2/7) and not 72 percent empty (5/7), you are on the right track.

And don't talk about the principle of justice because Umno had none the way they had treated the opposition.

Watch Out: Another master stroke by MB Azmin. Selangor people are not going to take this favourably.

I am sure Azmin must have thought about this when he gave them the allocation and was hoping that they will reject it.
