Umno, the Malay youth can see through you

Umno worried Malay youth joining 'chauvinistic' party

Multi Racial: The problem with the Umno leadership is that it is in a state of denial. If we talk about being chauvinistic, Umno is the worst in this. Not only that, the party is also funding chauvinistic NGOs like Isma and Perkasa.

The problem is the whole country knows what it is trying to do. The majority of Malaysians know Umno is attempting to divide the people by race to its advantage.

In 2013, the majority of Malaysians voted for Pakatan Rakyat. It goes to show Umno is in the wrong direction. Even with full control of printed media, radio and television, it still lost the majority.

Instead of realising and correcting the situation, its president started by blaming its loss in the general election on the Chinese and this sent the wrong message to Umno and their NGOs.

From that on, instead of solving the real issues, Umno leaders conveniently blamed everything on non-Malays for its drop in popularity. Its BN partners then did the same thing.

Thinking Citizen_1403620863: The biggest problem why Umno is not attracting younger Malays is because they do not want to be associated with corruption and racism.

These younger Malays believes in nation building together with the other communities unlike Umno, which wants to build the fortunes of selected leaders by stepping on other Malays and other communities.

Gerard Lourdesamy: For Umno, DAP is chauvinistic but to the 51 percent of voters who collectively voted for the Pakatan parties including DAP, Umno is beyond the pale when it comes to chauvinism and petty racism.

Umno should accept the fact that not more than 55-60 percent of Malays support the party and the rest have different political views.

Why hope for 100 percent support like some right-wing fascist dictatorship? The essence of democracy is the freedom to choose and the freedom to dissent.

Why should Malays remain locked in a feudalistic relationship with Umno when the party has clearly digressed from its 1946 principles?

Anonymous #19098644: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, which is the chauvinistic party - the one that welcomes all races and gives opportunities to all, or the one that is for the benefit of Umnoputeras and their families only?

Jiminy Qrikert: No, Khairy, there are not enough intellectuals, gifted orators or fiery debaters among the young in Umno to attract the Malay youth to join Umno. That's why they choose to join that 'chauvinist' party DAP that is far more dynamic.

And you ought to explain why you have not been able to attract the Malay youth. Maybe you are not intellectual enough, not gifted enough as an orator, nor fiery enough as a debater to meet the demanding expectations of today Malay youth.

So what are you doing as Umno Youth chief? It's best you quit since you have been a total failure in this respect.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Khairy, the young Malays have realised that there has got to be a way forward. What better way than to see everyone born here as a Malaysian first before one's ethnicity?

The divide-and-rule system will only create more walls instead of bridges. The young educated Malays have opened up their minds and have begun to ask questions which Umno despises, so they find other platforms to move forward.

A simple example, if education is not segregated in accordance to race and religion, we will not need vernacular schools anymore.

Because we insisted on race and religion, the British brought in the missionary schools and encouraged all to study under one roof and that produced a lot of 'towering Malaysians'. But sadly today, we have regressed.

Anon1: You keep insulting the younger Malays and continue thinking that only Umno can make decisions for them, and then you ask why Umno is being shunned?

Vgeorgemy: Khairy, the issue is not “that chauvinist party” but hate-based organisations like Perkasa and Isma. As long as Umno permit these hate-based organisations to flourish, young Malaysians will discard racial parties like Umno.

Opah: Khairy, for all his supposed intelligence, cannot understand that people join political parties like DAP for reasons other than advancement.

Perhaps in Umno, people only join because they are enticed by the promise of financial advancement - to become a chieftain, to stand for elections, to feed at the trough of corruption.

Those who join DAP and PKR do so because they believe in certain principles, and because they want to build a better Malaysia for everyone.

CHKS: Khairy, the reason there are no more young, vibrant, intellectuals in Umno Youth is simply because Umno is no longer a relevant party for the young.

Ckl0001: Khairy, come on, have some respect to those who don't want anything to do with Umno. They are smarter than you think. Which right-minded Malay youth would want to be in a racist party which is incapable of governing the country well?

Sodom Me Sodom You: Umno is a party that is fighting to retain the old warlord culture that has made some Malays super rich and left the rest of them in the doldrums. Khairy is a smart boy who knows how to exploit the system.

Umno is no longer relevant to the rest of Malays and indeed all of Malaysia. The country doesn't need race champions.

It actually truly needs visionary leaders who will commit to rebuilding the country from the Umno-BN scourge. Please hand over the baton to Pakatan and watch the nation grow.

James_3392: Never mind, Khairy, let them join that chauvinistic party, otherwise if they join Umno even your position will be challenged.

Let them challenge Nurul Anwar, Rafizi Ramli, Tony Pua, etc. The chauvinistic party will be in turmoil, that's good for Umno, don't you think so?
