Moderate Malays initiative gathering momentum

YOURSAY ‘Love your country. Sign the petition. That is the least we can do.’

22 Muslim activists show support for Eminent 25

Fair Play: Astute investors study technical analysis to predict the direction of the stock market and to profit from it.

From my analysis, I can't help but have this feeling that finally the moderate Muslim Malaysians are wakening up to the fact that their destiny is really in their own hand.

When this movement gathers momentum, the extremist elements from our society (from all communities) would be eventually swept away. There is hope yet for the nation.

Ksn: It is a pleasure to see that the Eminent 25 initiative is gathering momentum. Good for Malaysia.

Yours and My Malaysia: Where can I sign to show support for this awakening?

By the way I am also waiting anxiously for the response from Perkasa and Isma. My bet is it will be like rabid-dogs-foaming-in-the-mouth kind of response.

Ferdtan: Yours and My Malaysia, just go sign the online petition called ‘I am #26’ to show your support.

It is good that the voice of moderation, especially from the Malays, is coming out to support the Eminent 25.

Recently, there have been many deliberate and organised religious provocations by a small group of extremists wanting to hijack the religion for their political gains.

There is a power struggle in Umno; one faction is using religious extremists to bring down the so-called ‘moderate’ party president.

Rightly or wrongly, simplistically they are painting one side (Mahathir Mohamad’s) as conservatives and the other moderates (Najib Abdul Razak’s); when in actual fact PM Najib is neither.

We don’t care about the real reason behind the escalation of such extremist aggravations, but the voice of moderation must be heard loud and clear for the sake of Malaysia.

This initiative is once in a lifetime chance for all peaceful Malaysians of all races and religions to be heard. Love your country. Sign the petition. That is the least we can do.

Ourvotesdecide: Najib, as usual, keep quiet. Only after the people have taken the lead and he can see that it is supported by the majority, will he come to hijack the movement.

There is no leadership at all from Najib. The true colours, capability and competency of a leader is always shown in time of trouble and crisis.

Let the moderates, progressive and inclusive Malays/Muslims take over and provide an alternative leadership. These are the Malays/Muslims who will lead Malaysians to greater heights.

Sunnyd: The only way to address the Islamic state of affairs is for Muslims to reflect where their religion is going. This has to be from within.

Religion will and always has been used for vested interests. When Palestinians were killed, the whole Muslim world was up in arms. There were protests and boycotts around the world.

Now more than 130 Muslim kids have been killed by the Taliban in Pakistan. There is not a whimper from the so-called Muslim champions. Why? Imagine if the children had been killed in Palestine.

Desperate for Change: Well done all of you. I am so happy to see this happen. I have hope for Malaysians. I have hope for my children, who are overseas, will return to work in Malaysia.

MingXiang: The Eminent 25 have really put Najib in a spot. Now he has to find a place to go to for another holiday.

Another group of 25 pens letter to Najib

CQ Muar: (Author and social activist) Kee Thuan Chye, we are all in favour and support the move for freedom of expression as spelt out in the federal constitution.

The original 25 eminent Malays who initiated such a call must be congratulated. Let's hope and push for more moderate Malaysians to join the campaign, and that people of other professions will step forward to render meaningful impetus to the cause. Bravo.

Fair Play: In fact, I think Najib should be pleased that the right-thinking rakyat from all communities are now coming out to support his moderate policies to drive the nation forward.

With their support, the PM should be in a strong position to hold a very tight rein on the extremist individuals or groups such as Ibrahim Ali, Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, retired chief justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad, Perkasa, Isma and their cohorts.

Datuk Iskandar Shah: At last, our Malay brethren have finally opened their eyes and have the balls to speak out. I am really ashamed of my own race that sits and watches the country go to dogs.

Will there be more leaders speaking out and drown the Perkasa and Isma, Mais and Jais gangsters who hold the country to ransom although they are in the minority but exert more power just because majority of the intelligent Malays keep quiet?
