Economic squalls ahead, yet they harp on religion

YOURSAY ‘It is clear that Pekida has not read what Guan Eng actually said.’

Are you threatening me, Guan Eng asks Pekida

Versey: It needs at least some grey matter in the brain to understand and differentiate what is more serious and disrespectful to Islam - Penang CM Lim Guan Eng's interpretation of Section 49(1) of the Enactment 2004 that they are not binding on non-Muslims or MCA's demand that Administration of the Religion of Islam (State of Penang) Enactment 2004 be repealed, which implicitly means to abolish the Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Pulau Pinang.

Obviously, Pekida's brawn cannot match MCA's wiliness, the latter use their mouth to get the former into making a fool of themselves and perceived as nuisance in the eyes of the public.

When all the right-thinking and conscientious Malaysians are concerned with the economy, educational and cultural development of the nation, this group of people and the guile instigator, MCA, seemed to be more interested in morphing non-issues into controversial/disturbing issues.

If their intention is not to mask, their own inept and lack of intelligence to govern when they were in control of Penang and Selangor, it must be out of some unscrupulous hidden agenda to divert the public's attention from the country's many serious ills and at the same time distract the Penang government (and Selangor) from paying full attention in the state development.

Mushiro: It is clear that Pekida has not read what LGE (Lim Guan Eng) actually said or they do not understand LGE's statement. But they are quick to jump on the opportunity of creating some confusion and putting LGE in bad light.

This police report is a political move and misusing the police, especially since Pekida is close to Umno.

Anonymous #559621903: Pekida should look into the many social problems that the Malays are facing.

With poor Malays in the east coast now suffering from the floods and much of their belongings destroyed, Pekida should organise something to assist them.

Drug addiction rate is highest among Malays and this issue too should be taken up by NGOs like Pekida. Then you have the Mat Rempit problem, Pekida should try to motivate the youths to get involved in healthier activities.

Why find trouble with Guan Eng who is doing a lot for the Malays and Muslims? DAP Penang hasm more than doubled the fund allocation for Islamic development from BN's time.

They are doing well and the silent majority of Penang Malays are actually happy with DAP. Pekida, please leave them alone to continue their good work, and do something more useful.

Not Confused: Anyone making any comment about any government minister or any of the hundreds of worthless rightwing NGOs is described as being disrespectful or hurting their feelings in some strange way.

However these idiots and their BN masters seem to be at liberty to say and do whatever they wish with total impunity.

Respect is earned.  So, butt out if you cannot accept criticism of any kind.

Pemerhati: Former Umno president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is a patron of this allegedly gangster organisation called Pekida.

The Umno leader before him, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, is the patron of Perkasa, which is like the Nazis, espouses race superiority and discrimination of minorities.

The present Umno leader PM Najib Razak has made organisations like Perkasa, Isma, etc., Umno’s subsidiaries and supports them financially.

They all spew racist and religious venom to divide the people of Malaysia because Umno thinks by using this strategy it can continue to rule the country and keep on plundering the people’s money.

David: The nation is heading towards an impending economic disaster and these groups prefer to pick on LGE rather than looking at ways to assist the Malays. Indeed, what has this gang actually done for the betterment of the Malays?

Gerard Lourdesamy: It is time that representations be made to the United States, the European Union, Canada, Australia and New Zealand to classify Perkasa, Pekida, Isma, the PPIM (Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association), etc, as proscribed organisations since they are not only a threat to domestic peace, security and public order but a global threat since they advocate hate, suspicion, intimidation and soon, the extermination of those perceived to be a danger to Islam and Muslims.

Gaji Buta: How can the police do real work when they are flooded with reports like this on daily basis? Is there a separate unit in the police to address political reports? Someone has to put a stop to this nonsense as crime is rising daily.

SSDhaliwal: Why not lodge a police report against Egyptian scholar Dr Yusuf Qaradawi for telling the truth?

It is simply a fact that all this humdrum is just because a Chinese - and that too an opposition leader - has made a statement echoed by the respected good doctor who is an authority on Islam and the constitution.

If Pekida think they are right, why not debated with the religious scholars?

Anonymous #70881335: All these people who claim to fight and protect Islam, I wonder, do they really understand Islam or are they using Islam as a political tool?

Woe to them if they are, for the Almighty will judge them accordingly.
